Behold, an opportunity to gather.
Welcome to Somnia's fifth ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THIS APP ROUND: With September marking the start of the game's second arc, there will be a setting shift and thus we'll be skipping a TDM/app round for that month to better situate our current players. With that said, our next app round after this one will only being in October, so I've decided to uncap the game and thus the number of apps coming in this round and going forward (at least until where I feel like I can handle it).
IN SUMMARY, If you have interest in apping, now might be a good time if you do not wish to wait three months for the next round, or risk the game getting capped again!

- EVENT/TDM: June 1stAn opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision to send an invite (note that this does not guarantee one). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

Brief Info: she's a girl she's a ghost she's a god she's in your walls making jokes about your inevitable demise
Aradia's an odd duck! She's a weird alien bug girl who talks to dead people and plays Alien D&D That Kills You as a social hobby. She also knew she was going to die from a very young age, and was only mildly surprised when she did - and that death eventually kickstarted the apocalypse and a whole bunch of other stuff I'm not getting into right now. You've heard the memes. But now that she's alive again, she's cheerfully intending to stay that way, and getting back in touch with things that the living do. Like having emotions? And friends? Wild concept tbh.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I've definitely settled on Token, but I keep waffling back and forth between (of course) Necromancy and Chronomancy - both are so good! both are in her wheelhouse! and both are things I never get to play with in games!! I will almost certainly have her hop between them occasionally through events, but deciding on the starter one is still very important.
As for game ideas, some of it depends on which Token subtype she ends up with, but in both cases the core idea boils down to "she's going to be so normal about living in the apocalypse". Girl does amateur archaeology for fun. This is quite literally her dream environment. Let her dig stuff up for you!! If she goes Chronomancer, she'll be using that magic to the fullest in restoring things or preventing problems, and if she goes Necromancer, well. She's no stranger to talking to the dead, or playing psychopomp to other characters who die.

NECROMANCY AND CHRONOMANCY ARE BOTH SO GOOD FOR HER AAAA ... I can see the struggle

yeah no you see my problem! both of them are so good for her and I never get to like. Explore either powerset. Because most games immediately put both in the "this is godmoding/too complicated for dwrp" box (and honestly, fairrrr enough) so it's exciting to really stretch out and do Weird Shit. but which flavour of Weird Shit, though.......

I think picking between those two comes down to if you want to lean more into her low key still having her SBURB given powers or having to adapt to having just essentially her original powerset with some new bells and whistles.
Plus, with Hussie having dropped the beta troll ancestor forms, you could take advantage of the physical appearance instability option in Chronomancer to have Aradia appear as a grub or huge adult troll sometimes. Legit with how much troll appearance changes throughout their life cycle, this feels like something you could play with a lot here.
But yeah, those two are the most fitting options. Only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is Geomancer so girl can be her own excavation crew and go full on into archeology.

Yeah, I think that's why I'm drawn to those two specifically? I could go for something totally out of her wheelhouse, but I like the idea of taking something she's familiar with and pushing it to an uncomfortable extreme, without the luxury of the other powerset as an immediate fallback (or her psionics! She's gonna feel so weird about not having that.) Though Geomancer would also be really neat, as would Beastkin! Spoiled for choice here, really.
re: Ancestor mode, ooh that is a fun idea. I was iffy on Aradia's when I saw it, but I genuinely didn't consider that Chronomancer could shuffle her around like that. :|a It'd be something interesting to play with for sure, and something that she'd be way more uncomfortable with then she'd like to admit.

Aradia is rarely uncomfortable so Iβd be fascinated to see that. Also I am just imagining her using grub form to wiggle into structures to explore them. Other people just see an Indiana Jones hat moving around on the floor. Then just a high pitched βHello!β From underneath it.

Oh the grub form as a way to explore tiny spaces would be interesting. And something really useful but not without it's own dangers, since grubs are tiny and so easily squishable. :|a Deciding which to go with is going to be a nightmare (in a good way).
And yeah, she's so rarely uncomfortable or out of her depth in canon! So putting her in
a blendersituations that she won't just vibe through is honestly something I'm really looking forward to, bc like. Girl you don't have your "the Alpha Timeline will just tidy everything up so it's okay :)" schtick to fall back on here. You gotta make decisions again!no subject
While Necromancer immediately rips the Alpha Timeline reassurance away from Aradia. At the very least she can just focus on creating and maintaining a zombie army archeological team. Maybe not see the actual therapist and just grant one zombie the title of Dr. Mindwrangler and talk to it.

Yeah, the flipside of Necromancer is that it immediately confiscates the safety blanket - which like, y'know. It's fine. Doomed timelines happen. She's just gonna wander and look around until this one tidies itself up, which it will almost definitely do at some point.
... though yeah she would just dub a random skeleton Dr Mindwrangler instead of talking to anyone about her problems, huh. Girl, please.
