Welcome to Somnia's fourth ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- EVENT/TDM: March 1st
- RESERVES: March 13th
- APPS: March 20th - 26th

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

• I'm currently considering a number of possibilities for inclusion here, but here's my top three, after some pondering.
  
• For this game I definitely want to choose a canon point before the final possible endpoint for maximum juiciness—so I can canon update at a later point.
  
• I definitely also want to consider opinions of people already in the game as far as which of my characters would fit in the best with regard to things like temptation and the potential for giving into Sleep's darkness.

ᛗ CHARACTER
Name: Inigo Montoya

Canon: The Princess Bride
Brief Info: A talented and brilliant swordsman who has been pursuing revenge for his father's death for over twenty years now, Inigo has fallen on hard times due to losing hope that he'll ever be able to accomplish his quest. However, having recently identified and located the culprit has him more hell-bent than ever that he can do it.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I would bring Inigo in just as he's chasing Count Rugen through the castle to try to assassinate him at last. I would probably make him a Token as far as his Vessel goes, and I would want his magic to be anchored to the continued obsession with his revenge.

Name: Larry Underwood

Canon: Stephen King's The Stand
Brief Info: Larry is a former drug-obsessed rockstar whose party-fueled lifestyle and financial debts came crashing on him just before the literal pandemic-caused Apocalypse occurred. He's had a crisis of confidence due to the fact that several survivors have come to see him as a leader in the groups that have coalesced since the pandemic killed off 99% or more of the population, and he constantly doubts his decisions.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm intrigued by either possibility for making Larry into a Vessel, but foremost the idea of some kind of Offering that's connected to his life as a musician. For canon points I'm considering several but possibly an early one for him that would be right after Rita's death.

Name: Robert Angier

Canon: The Prestige
Brief Info: Angier is a stage magician who's become obsessed with the notion that his rival, Alfred Borden, is using some kind of real magic in his tricks, and who may have killed Angier's wife on purpose during a stage performance gone wrong years ago. In his obsessive hate, he approaches Nikola Tesla (yes, that Tesla) to seek a scientific answer to this magic.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Oh my god I am so open to ideas with Angier for this. Possible canon points may be right after he and Tesla realize what the machine Tesla invented is actually doing, or potentially the first time he personally uses the machine. Definitely would lean toward making him an Offering for Vessels.

Toki's certainly getting used to being here and making friends, but he could always use some people he knows.

PLEASE, please, please give me bestie best girl, long-lost sister, rebel queen, and our lab-grown pop idol cyanosis goblin. I badly want to explore the relationships between them all and see how they develop post-trauma...? ...? Look, bad things happen here, but none of it's really outdone being chattel to aliens.

In-game, Till is a Lightweaver while Ivan is a Swarmling. Mizi did nothing wrong.

Canon: Trigun Stargaze
Brief Info: You know that meme of "looks like a cinnamon roll/could actually kill you" vs "looks like they could kill you/actually a cinnamon roll"? Vash is the fusion of these extremes into "looks like a cinnamon roll, could easily kill you, is a cinnamon roll anyway". He's a fun contradiction of expert gunslinger who is nonetheless an extreme pacifist, with a mountain of survivor guilt that's been growing for 150 years.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Offering, specifically Seraph. Really interested in playing with the 'angel' motif and the idea of healing blood....he's going to be So Healthy about that, obviously. Also fascinated by the difficulty with lying ..... your friendly neighborhood lying liar boutta have to level up even more in creative truth arrangement and omissions.

Otherwise generally hype about the notion of 'local man who constantly tries to outrun his problems and keep everyone at arm's length getting waylaid by Tethers As A Concept'

Brief Info: Levi is a grouchy but well-meaning (usually) hardass clean freak weirdo who despite standing a towering 5'3" and sleeping two hours a night in a chair is allegedly humanity's strongest soldier, though he doesn't really care about this and wishes people would just shut up and leave him alone. He likes tea and very little else. He cracks a smile about once every eight months. Sorry in advance.

He would definitely be a token, at the moment my brilliant idea is Bloodwright because he hates blood and I've never turned down an opportunity to make his life fucking suck even more than it already does (which is A Lot). Beyond dealing with that and one planned tether I'm honestly just looking to roll around on the TDM and see what happens!

I never got around to finishing AoT, but I can't help thinking Levi would do great here — an influx of creatures against the backdrop of someone else's glorified family drama is basically his cuppa!

🌟 revered as a God where he comes from, despite being Just A Guy.
🌟 undead/"half dead". his canon is very strange.
🌟 charismatic, generous, and kind, but closed off, a martyr, and secretive.
🌟 a man with a "cursed lineage", the descendant of a great and terrible dictator + seeking to redeem his cursed lineage by undoing the damage he's caused.

Canon: Reverse: 1999
Brief Info: A sentience that arose from the concept of war's futility, now stapled to the corpse of a fallen WWI soldier. He walks battlefields to recover the bodies of the dead and dying and lay them to rest, a task he performs endlessly and treats as the only purpose to his existence. He is a total pacifist, avoiding both violence and other forms of confrontation, which oftentimes renders him a helpless spectator to more horrors.

Tender-hearted and troubled by everyone's tragedies equally. Has to buffer like an old computer to respond to external stimuli because his mind works a bit slow. Face reveal in bio.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Necromancer is the obvious choice, if only so he can go around communing with the spirits of dead New Yorkers to learn their last wishes and try his bestest to honor them. Will haplessly wander straight through hordes of grabby hosts to do it, which will not end well. Might dig some graves in Central Park for fun. :))

LMAOOOO yeah it's not even really explained in canon super well but it's because handead like ko are, like, two steps away from being turned into full zombies (without the cannibal instincts) called zendead. they all have dead points/parts of themselves that are necrotic. ko's is his right hand

In summary, Yuji continues to go through the Horrors, Megumi just went through a traumatic canon update, Choso is settling in, and Toji inadvertently got Megumi a girlfriend and made it everyone's business. Please come add to the chaos! =D
