Welcome to Somnia's fourth ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- EVENT/TDM: March 1st
- RESERVES: March 13th
- APPS: March 20th - 26th

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

• I'm currently considering a number of possibilities for inclusion here, but here's my top three, after some pondering.
  
• For this game I definitely want to choose a canon point before the final possible endpoint for maximum juiciness—so I can canon update at a later point.
  
• I definitely also want to consider opinions of people already in the game as far as which of my characters would fit in the best with regard to things like temptation and the potential for giving into Sleep's darkness.

ᛗ CHARACTER
Name: Inigo Montoya

Canon: The Princess Bride
Brief Info: A talented and brilliant swordsman who has been pursuing revenge for his father's death for over twenty years now, Inigo has fallen on hard times due to losing hope that he'll ever be able to accomplish his quest. However, having recently identified and located the culprit has him more hell-bent than ever that he can do it.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I would bring Inigo in just as he's chasing Count Rugen through the castle to try to assassinate him at last. I would probably make him a Token as far as his Vessel goes, and I would want his magic to be anchored to the continued obsession with his revenge.

Name: Larry Underwood

Canon: Stephen King's The Stand
Brief Info: Larry is a former drug-obsessed rockstar whose party-fueled lifestyle and financial debts came crashing on him just before the literal pandemic-caused Apocalypse occurred. He's had a crisis of confidence due to the fact that several survivors have come to see him as a leader in the groups that have coalesced since the pandemic killed off 99% or more of the population, and he constantly doubts his decisions.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm intrigued by either possibility for making Larry into a Vessel, but foremost the idea of some kind of Offering that's connected to his life as a musician. For canon points I'm considering several but possibly an early one for him that would be right after Rita's death.

ᛗ CHARACTER
Name: Robert Angier

Canon: The Prestige
Brief Info: Angier is a stage magician who's become obsessed with the notion that his rival, Alfred Borden, is using some kind of real magic in his tricks, and who may have killed Angier's wife on purpose during a stage performance gone wrong years ago. In his obsessive hate, he approaches Nikola Tesla (yes, that Tesla) to seek a scientific answer to this magic.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Oh my god I am so open to ideas with Angier for this. Possible canon points may be right after he and Tesla realize what the machine Tesla invented is actually doing, or potentially the first time he personally uses the machine. Definitely would lean toward making him an Offering for Vessels.

These are not the only characters I'm noodling around with, either... Check my muselist if you're curious about other possibilities.

I feel like Larry would settle right in with our various idols and rockers! I mean, even the NPCs are musicians, there's definitely potential there.

You know, somehow when I was considering Larry I didn't even think about the fact that the entire game concept is based on rock music! I'm starting to really lean his direction now lol

I need to poke more into how the Vessels work...

I love either Inigo or Larry. Larry would fit the game setting tone vibe well. But Inigo's desire for revenge would also probs be fun to play withhin game.

Still love the idea of Cato and him in the "I went on a roaring rampage of revenge to kill the man who killed my father" club.

I'm heavily considering them both now. Might even bring one now and bring the other after summer break starts.

lol when Inigo is chasing Count Rugen through the castle to try to assassinate him at last is such a cruel canon point. I love it and I think anchoring his magic in his obsession for revenge could be really fun!

I'm intrigued by Robert Angier too. They both sound like fun options!
