Welcome to Somnia's second ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- EVENT/TDM: September 1st
- RESERVES: September 12th
- APPS: September 16th - 23rd

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

Hi, I'm Basil and I have a Lorenz account somewhere but it'll take a good review to be him back online. You're more than welcome to a sassy fallen angel who regained his divinity in all of the wrong ways, though. Tbh my toxic trait is to look at game plot and say 'you know what? I'm going to build a pizza restaurant instead', so I'm excited to see what kinda shenanigans you get up to with Sylvain.

And you're talking to the person who recently ambushed a 100% perfect stranger on a meme, with a crosscanon character so there's no preexisting CR to lean on, with, extremely paraphrased, [They're now in a jamjar that has nothing to do with their respective canons and their roommates are Goku and Spock.] We obviously share a similar sense of humor and we can make this work.

It's most likely going to be Sylvain but I had a Chil chucked at me last weekend (friend stayed over, brought me a gift) which is why he's been on my mind recently.

Anyway.

Tell me of your canon. More specifically, I know it exists and I know the basic premise, tell me if it's more of a light novel read or a manga read because it's been on my list for a while but I haven't gotten around to it.

To be honest, the Devil is a Part Timer has 3 wacky seasons of anime that's a wild ride. The light novel goes further- the anime kinda does what the Soul Eater anime did and truncated the ending for a quick closure. The manga I think is ongoing, but the Light Novel series recently completed with 20- odd volumes. It's a wild story about the Demon King fleeing to Japan and deciding on Conquest via Legally Distinct McDonald's. This guy is his pain in the behind General, Jaded Big Bro, Pesky Little Bro, and Very Gullible Online Shopper all rolled into one package.

I freaking love crosscanon shenanigans.

And no worries, I understand the feeling of having a Chilchuck Chucked at you when there was no more Chill that the Chilchuck could hold. I have an account for him too, somewhere. He's fun in a grumpy, divorced man kinda way.

Yeah, I tried Mithrun for a hot minute but being a limp noodle of an elf isn't fun unless you've got people to bounce off of? Great character, unsure of him as a RP character.

Anyway.

Okay. I've got a watch group going for RNG shows (like it's literally pick a show from a list and we'll watch it eventually), so I'll twist their arms and have them add it to the list. Because why not.

That was me with Marcille. She's really best when she has people she's familiar with around.

And, try to watch the dub if you do get around to the anime. The casting is good and the way it's translated really digs in with jokes that touch on popular and Internet meme culture- and a fun moment of making two characters speak in Spanish at each other bc one missed the memo and the other is just forward thinking enough to be prepared for that sort of thing.

Like it's not often I outright say to watch the dub, but seriously- it's hilarious.

You know, I went back and forth on responding to this because on one hand, I'm obviously invested in this if I ultimately decided to, but on the other hand technically I feel like with EMPs people generally wave arms excitedly at each other and then nope off until the tdm, and it's been a few days.

But.

Preference noted, and I get that. It reminded me of RGG/Yakuza/Like A Dragon where they added the bit about staring at the camera in the dub. Only in the dub. When the translators lean into their strengths it just adds to the overall thing?
