Welcome to Somnia's second ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

Brief Info: Fuuta is a strong willed person who has a fierce sense of justice and a difficult temper, but he means to do well in the world and right wrongs done against others. He is, at his heart, a gruff, caring person who believes in punishing people who hurt others.

BUT Fuuta has an ego and flew too close to the doxxing sun. His callout posts inevitably caused a younger girl to take her own life and now he's in hell jail where his memories get turned into music/visual representations of his past and mindset. He's being judged on these! It's going poorly.

He was brutally attacked and lost the use of one of his eyes.

And he's been manipulated into a cult because he is actually quite broken and terrified!
Vessel Type & General ideas: Fuuta is often represented lyrically and visually by fire, so in all likelihood he would be a Token and pyromancer. This will be ungood! The dogma he has learned from Amane and the severe anxiety that comes with her absence will probably make him a risk -Especially to healers/medical personnel-. I think unprogramming his brain and making connections that force him to deal with the consequences of his actions but help him to realize he can be redeemed by things that are not harmful doctrine would be kinda cool. Or just make him worse by falling into the worship of the system of possible worship here as he frantically hopes to be cleansed of his sin. Either would be good !

EMP: Expedition 33, Surviving as Maid, Silent Hill: Downpour

Canon: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Brief Info:

Verso seems very shady when a person first meets him. He has an ease and charm to him, however, but there is the obvious feeling that he's hiding something from everyone. Yet there is an "openness" about his person, he's willing to answer any question posed to him. Granted, he may be a little elusive when it comes to the answer. But there's a playfulness to how he acts and talks that begs the person talking to him to join in on the banter.

So, while he may seem untrustworthy, there is genuinely kind nature to him that makes others, at least, feel a little more comfortable around him. Because he is speaking the truthfully, but omitting "the truth" so is always lying. And most people get that sense when he's talking; they at least feel like they know what he wants even if they don't know his motives.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Bloodwright. I was initially thinking of maybe going with Necromancer but decided to go with something that'd be more his style. Which is weakening or taking harm upon himself to bolster or heal others. He's got kind of a complicated past and present; it's my hope to be able to have him figure out how to live more as himself than anyone else. However, I like giving him this ability since it's still something he'd use in service of others. (laughs)

Name: Mio Zodiac
Canon: Surviving as a Maid
Brief Info:

So, Surviving as a Maid has a protagonist fall into a BL world. Mio is one of the characters of that world. He is someone who is very no-nonsense; he is loyal; he's kind to an extent. It turns out, however, that he was being emotionally manipulated by the person he thought he loved most.

He gets into a better relationship, but he comes from a poor household, has moderate-okay swordsmanship, and is just a dude in the end. Not a duke with world renown skills; not a great magician. Yet regardless of how he feels about himself, he doesn't let others push him around much. He has a very: "Yeah, I know I'm mid but YOU don't get to say that to me."

Vessel Type & General ideas: Merrow. He originally comes from a seaside town. He missed his home dearly but never was able to go back to it due to having so many responsibilities. This one is a completely new character so I'm less sure on the general idea other than throw him like spaghetti at a wall and see if he sticks. Although, I do like the idea of him becoming more obsessive because solving this problem would protect those he cares about.

Name: Murphy Pendleton.
Canon: Silent Hill: Downpour.
Brief Info:

Murphy is the main protagonist of Downpour. He's blunt and can be cagey; he is straight-forward and tends to be brutal in the sense of getting from A to B in a straight line is more important than avoiding collateral damage (but he does try to minimize it by being abrasive enough that people hopefully will stay out of his way). He has a soft spot when it comes to those younger than him.

His son was killed and his son's murderer was sent to prison. He did what he could to be put into the same prison, worked with shady guards, and killed the man who killed his son. Unlike most that are called to Silent Hill, he doesn't have any hidden guilt. He fully accepts what he did; he also considers everything he did to get revenge may not have been worth the cost. He destroyed his entire life and any life he could possibly have afterward, but he's made peace with that, as well.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Aquamancer. I mean, yeah, Downpour. His situation is more related to water. But he could also be Merrow because he's willing to change himself to do what needs to be done. So, with Murphy, he's the protagonist of Downpour, but it isn't his story. He's already made peace with what he's done; he's living through someone else's Silent Hill. So I'd like to figure out and tell Murphy's story this time around.

Name: Erik Campbell
Canon: Final Destination: Bloodlines
Brief Info: Erik is a tattoo artist/piercer and his family is sort of cursed by death.

What that means is, a long time ago, his grandparents survived a freak incident they weren't supposed to due to the fact that his grandmother had a vision of the accident before it happened. She managed to warn everyone to safety, but death doesn't like that so it started to collect. However there were so many people involved that it took decades, and those people went and had families that were never supposed to be born, and death went after them too. Like Erik's family, for example.

He doesn't believe in any of this straight away when his cousin tries to warn the family and frequently makes it a point to taunt death despite almost dying in a freak accident himself. And almost getting hit by a truck. NEEDLESS TO SAY because plot reasons he starts to believe and actively tries to go against death's design which gets him in some big no good trouble. He's pretty much death's biggest hater now. The irony of having skulls tattooed all over parts of his body and one big one on his stomach is not lost on him.

Anyway he's a huge jerk and he's vulgar as hell. He's the kind of guy who will make obscene gestures to a garbage truck just to make a point and lowkey make fun of death. But for his many many faults he's also overprotective of his family and people he cares about.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
So I super want to explore all of everything death related for him, especially with his UMM experience regarding it and himself/family. I think being a Token and a necromancer would be delish, though I am still considering options I am definitely mostly leaning in this direction. Actually being able to dabble in necromancy will sort of give him that power back that was violently yanked away when he was helpless to do anything against death for his family. I'd just really love for him to make connections here that he wants to look out for, bring from the dead when they go and get got, and have it fuck him up a bit more each time which is half the fun let's be real. Also, he should probably ultimately learn to have some more respect for death, because at first he will 100% be viewing this as a sort of "fuck you death" instead. He will be powered by spite.

Name: Nicola Francesca

Brief Info:
Nicola is a love interest from an otome series set in 1925-1926 Italy. He is the underboss of a mafia family and a WWI veteran. On the surface, he comes off as someone who is gentle, sociable, charismatic, playful, and flirtatious towards women. However, he is a chronic liar who is very slow to trust others and keeps people at as much of a distance as possible while maintaining a friendly front as he recognizes how important it is to have connections.

Of course, he also has a ruthless side that won't hesitate to kill, torture, or sacrifice others to achieve his goals, even if they're friends. Nicola isn't even afraid to go behind his boss's back to accomplish tasks that he wouldn't approve of if he deems it necessary for the safety and prosperity of their family. He fully embraces the fact that he is a heinous criminal and holds no desire to be a "good" or "righteous" person. To his subordinates, Nicola is a very strict but competent boss who is highly respected; there are even those who believe that Nicola should be the head of the family instead.

As an only child who had a lonely childhood, Nicola has held a deep, lifelong desire to have siblings of his own and protect them with everything he has. He considers his boss, who is actually his younger cousin, to be his little brother and does what he thinks is best for him without actually consulting with him because Nicola's fear of opening up to others runs so deep that even his "little brother" isn't exempt from it. The only person to ever break down his walls is the MC in his own route.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
Nicola will definitely be a Token! My top pick right now is Shadowbinder, but I'm also considering Necromancer or Illusionist. As a mafioso who likes to work from the shadows, I strongly associate Nicola with darkness and obviously shadows so I've always liked the idea of him having powers that play into that. Necromancy could also be interesting for him too as he has been surrounded by death his whole life, both as someone who has taken lives and has watched the lives of loved ones be taken from him. And of course as a chronic liar, being able to create actual illusions would also fit him well.

I haven't decided on an exact canon point for him yet, but it definitely won't be his own route since I like to keep shipping options open and no one RPs his MC anyway- and it will most likely be one of the routes from the first game (Fated Memories) where he dies. Knowing that he'll never be able to return to his old life, Nicola would be forced to figure out who he is outside of the mafia and find a new purpose (perhaps a new person to dedicate himself to?) while fighting back against Succumbence so I think that would be fun to explore.

Brief Info: Baronness in an unhappy, arranged marriage; her family was essentially deposed by her husband's family in order to increase their standing in court. Her skills involve being a socialite, being a fashionable being, being rich, and trying to see if money will resolve a lot of her problems. She is not always nice, but she can try if it helps the situation. More info here!
Vessel Type & General ideas: I have plans for her to be a trickster! Alba doesn't necessarily acknowledge that she has any sort of influence in her position, but I would like to put her in a situation where she feels empowered - for better or worse - to affect others of her own accord. That would go a long way to building an identity for herself outside of just what's imposed on her at home. Beastkin is also possible for her, Alba can summon creatures around her for comfort if threatened, but also gives her the impression that she can lead and order things at her whim.

Canon: Arcane (League of Legends animated)
Brief Info:

Vander is just a dad and a bartender at the Last Drop. He also previously was a revolutionary for reform of the undercity and helped carve out the cities most prosperous black market called The Lanes. He remains the defacto leader of the Lanes community up until his untimely death. He is the father of four children that he adopted after the formal revolution resulted in many deaths (Claggor, Mylo, Violet, and Powder).

Actions have consequences though. Ironically, Vander's downfall came from a combination of his own past actions, his current inaction due to a deal that leashed him, and the chaos of teenagers looking to leave their mark on the world. He died as he lived: protecting.

...except he didn't die. Due to some shady and very unscrupulous science, Vander's corpse was used over the years to push the boundaries of alchemy and he even fused with a murkwolf and became Warwick who is best described as a blood enabled murder machine who only grows stronger and more ferocious the more injures he sustains and regenerates from.

Vessel Type & General ideas:

At this point, I'm going with the obvious: Lycans. We have to bring out that murder machine somehow as I do plan on taking Vander from closer to the time of his death when he's a functional person who can string an actual sentence of words together. Beyond that, Vander needs to deal with the fall out of actions spinning out of control and the loss of two of his adoptive children, so it will be an emotional rollercoaster for him.

Name: Silco
Canon: Arcane (League of Legends animated)
Brief Info:

THE crime daddy. Silco is the yang to Vander's ying. He also helped carve out The Lanes in the undercity, but a betrayal left him physically and emotionally scarred. Silco usurped Vander's position and unleashed Shimmer (addictive regenerative liquid cocaine) on his own people to gather power. Within 6 years, Silco was the grand puba, called the Chem-Barons, and he ruled with an iron fist, removing opposition, menacing his allies when they nudged him a touch too far, and built the Lanes and the undercity up to be a economic and scientific powerhouse. Yet, his end goal always was to remove Piltover's boot from the neck of the undercity in a free city of its own called Zaun. He was one step away from that too.

But Silco is also a girl-dad. His adoptive daughter is a person he poured all of his worst habits and traumas into to create a likeness. He would do anything for her, include dying for his dream of revolution. She just so happened to kill him (oops) in the world's worst tea party, but his legacy remains. (His adopted daughter is Jinx btw).

Vessel Type & General ideas:

Leaning towards Geomancer or Bloodwright for Silco. As always, Silco is an industrialist powerhouse, and he is a man of progress that will try to use any means necessary to gain power and control of the space he exists in, the people, and the powers around him. He is not someone who wishes to be on the front lines, but he is relentless in his pursuit of control. He tends to favour those who feel shunned or ostracized by society and draw them into the fold, so he will be doing that if he shows up. Also, he has his #1 enforcer here.

Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm leaning towards a token, in part because fucking around with powers is my passion. (I apped a different character elsewhere and gave him water magic solely because then I could have him spritz people in the face with it.) So while I've got some ideas, the tiebreaker would honestly probably be, like...

I go with necromancer, someone else goes with necromancer, can they have 'does this ghost shit happen to you too' CR. Or he goes fire and someone else drenches him with water on the regular.

I've got a 3x shortlist so for all we know I'll be doing a Chilchuck swerve when the time comes on the tdm, but figured I'd start with one on the emp.

Kind and almost unbearably optimistic, Cooper is a beam of radiant sunshine, he believes in treating yourself kindly and in the invigorating power of a good cup of coffee. Recently one tumblr user described him as 'the antichrist if he was snoopy.'

Something has always been wrong with Cooper, since he was a child unnatural tragedy has followed him everywhere. People die. The world itself unravels and something unspeakable reaches out of the depths of the world for him…and he skips on happily out of its reach.

Or it was that way until he walked directly into the mouth of hell in Twin Peaks while investigating a murder for the FBI. Soon Cooper was entangled in the life and death of Laura Palmer, a victim of the same demonic force that had hunted him his entire life.

There was another side to his investigation in the town, a greater plan. One that Cooper quickly brushed aside for the sake of Laura. Before her death Laura saw Cooper in a dream and reached out for him to save her. The message came too late, she was murdered at the hands of her lifelong abuser.

Cooper took that failure to heart and so when given the opportunity to rectify it- after losing 25 years of his life locked away in a hellish dimension called the Black Lodge- he walked back in time to the night of her death and tried to save her.

It went poorly.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
Cooper has spent his life sustained by denial. Horrible, terrible things happen to him constantly and for him the only way to move on has been to burry it. He lost 25 years of his life, and returned to find how his loved ones suffered at the hands of his doppelgänger. He ran out on his reunion with them, believing that he could fix everything and undo their pain because he couldn’t face it.

He is quite literally a fragmented being, existing in multiple forms, all of them hurting and screaming. In dreams you might be talking to Cooper young or old, his doppelgänger, or someone who looks nothing like him like Ruby. There’s a lot of guys in this guy.

I'm going to make him a Big Fucking Owl Monster. I’m going to make him sit down for more than five minutes and think. It won't be easy. He’s still on his quest to save Laura, and he’s going to bring that fixation to the murmur. You'll feel his grief, his outrage over her death, and his obsession with saving her.

So, in other words: Laura has a new narrative to haunt. Look forward to seeing her in the murmur.

Name: Harrier Du Bois

Harry is an amnesiac ex-cop (bringing him from the bad ending) that the system spat out after he became too disabled to work. He has every disease, can see the future, is generally offputting, and is equipped with an insatiably curious mind. Formerly a genius detective, he’s really been through a meat grinder of a time and has hurt a lot of people.

On the other hand he intrinsically cares for others, for better or worse and wants to be better. And his lack of memories and experience can make him very naive and innocent at times. He's been alive for a whole week. He happily befriends inanimate objects and enjoys putting stickers on his paperwork.

He's just learning he’s bisexual and can’t function properly around beautiful people. Also he has a cracked hip so he might have some trouble getting around.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I want him to be Big and Monstrous. Humanity is deeply painful for Harry and he has no desire to cling to it. Not sure what Offering type I’m going with. Maybe Lycan so I can have fun with all the dog imagery the narrative puts on him.

I'd like for him to explore his bisexuality and trauma with intimacy- it’s something he craves desperately but when he reaches out for it he faces traumatic flashbacks.

Something interesting for the murmur will be his skills- the 23+ fragments of his fractured sense of self- for Harry they’re a near constant: they’re how he experiences the world. For everyone else? I expect they’ll be a mind bending cacophonous multitude.

And then there’s the psychic powers. Harry hears the world speak to him, he's capable of seeing and hearing what his coworkers are doing on the other side of the city and yes, has seen the apocalypse come for his world.

Name: Cal 'Zabo' Johnson
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe

Once a kindly doctor/immensely talented surgeon Cal's life was turned upside down after the abduction of his infant daughter and murder of his super powered wife, Jiaying. After resurrecting her the two went on a mass killing spree across the globe but were never able to find their daughter.

Disgusted by what she’d done and still grieving, Jiaying left Cal to return to her own people. Cal continued the hunt, believing that finding their daughter could fix Jiaying's trauma and their relationship. He sunk lower and lower into murderous insanity, tinkering with a serum that gave him super strength at the cost of his physical and mental health.

His reunion with his daughter Daisy was far from ideal. She was repulsed by his immortality and the trail of death he left behind him. It took a lot of time for them to come to terms with the reality of their relationship. For Cal there was no turning back the clock and getting his baby back, no way to fix Jiaying.

But that was the past. Now, Cal is gone. Winslow is in his place. As an alternative to incarceration for his crimes Cal agreed to have his memories erased and new ones implanted instead. As far as he knows he’s a kindly veterinarian who's never harmed a soul.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I'd really like to play with the horror of being two people at once, I want Winslow's memories to peel back and reveal horror that he struggles to comprehend as a Perfectly Normal Man. This memory erasing procedure has a massive history of failure, after all.

I’m eyeing Wraith for him, at the moment. I’m considering making him stitch himself back together the way he did his wife’s body. And why not make him feed on life energy as well? Letting him take up her burdens, so to speak.

Admittedly I have not seen Twin Peaks or kept up with the MCU, BUT that actor looks like a certain someone my guy is very interested in catching up with for very important reasons.

my boy nicola here unfortunately is not modern, however he does have war experience! he fought on the front lines of World War I in the Italian army and somehow made it out unscathed (physically at least; mentally not so much....). i've always wanted to play him against other vets/soldiers so if you see me on the TDM or in the game, you're welcome to tag me! more info about nicola in my EMP comment above and in his journal if you're interested- i took a peek at freddie's journal and the CWs are A-OK with me!

Brief Info: Ain's whole thing is that he's an angel (hiding it) and learning to be human, because essentially he found a couple other humans he really really liked and went "I want to do what they're doing :D". He is Very Bad at pretending to be human and fails to understand basic principles such as "how emotions work" and "why humans sleep so much when they're depressed" and "how to socialize effectively". Angels aren't supposed to have emotions or free will where he's from, and he managed to break out of this because he loves humans (specifically, his humans he essentially found outside in the trash, but other humans too can count when he wants them to). He just loves them so much. Love of humanity also led him to becoming a healer for his party and usually worrying over their wellbeing all the time. He was canonically diagnosed with an anxiety disorder over this, fun facts.

His magic in general is also offensive-capable and controlled by his emotions for a deeply ironic twist. He knows like, three whole feelings and anything else he describes in physical sensations, i.e. anxiety is usually "the feeling of suffocating". As he develops more he'll figure out the words for these things, but for now he knows "happy" "sad" "mad" and kind of maybe "anxious :(" and that's. It. This man is five hundred years old.

The world he's from is post-apocalyptic and as of current canon his party is in what's just called the Demon Realm, you'll never guess what's in the Demon Realm guys!! And Ain hates it every step of the way because he's also learning to overcome the intrinsic demon-hatred that the Goddess who made him sort of just set into his brain like "there you go my son, go with hate into the world". He has a handful of demon friends now, everyone say good job Ain! (This does not prevent him from saying the occasional demon-racist thing unfortunately, and this is a huge character flaw of his.)

Vessel Type & General ideas: I think Ain would slot well as an Offering. I laughed a little at Seraph because that's just. At his core what he literally is. And as fun as that would be, for reasons outlined above, I have to go with Daemon. One because it would be viscerally upsetting to him and could make for some fun chardev moments, and two because I've already drawn several (new) (not canon) Seraph designs for him so I need something new and fresh— okay more realistically it's because, as he learns more about emotions and emotional pull, I think Daemon would be mechanically very fun to play with. Like, being prone to emotional outbursts (which he won't really Get at first) and then being weak to the same emotions he's trying to learn??? Hell yeah give me that. Also being unable to enter holy spaces which is what he's used to... chef's kiss, brilliant. Genuinely hyping myself up over here lmao.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Since Monoco's fighting style is Shapeshifting into Nevrons (the enemy monsters in E33, so he's basically a Blue Mage archetype) I am thinking either Trickster or Lycan so he could be shifting around. Trickster is fun to me because he's really not a deceptive type of character outside of using the element of SURPRISE and INTIMIDATION. Lycan is more direct to what he's about, transforming to match up to a challenge.

Sadly, collecting the legs of his enemies will probably not help him with this, but he'll still try.

Brief Info: A gift and love of music from a young age plus a university education, it's not surprising Jaskier grew into a bard of extraordinary talent. He made a name for himself in his late teens/early 20s as he made friends (debatable) with Geralt of Rivia, a witcher with a particularly bad reputation that Jaskier managed to turn around with the ballad "Toss A Coin". For the next few decades him and Geralt traveled together off and on, with Jaskier usually getting a few songs out of it.



The friendship part is debatable given Geralt is less than open about how much Jaskier clearly matters to him, which lead to them having a big blow up where Geralt's bad mood decided to target Jaskier so they had a rather dramatic breakup. Which Jaskier also got another banger of a song out of.



Separated "for good" this time, Jaskier also moves on to get his ass involved in the politics of the continent as tensions between elves/elf-blooded and humans rise with elves being used as a scapegoat, Jaskier finds himself helping them out of dangerous parts of the land into safer ones, earning himself the nickname Sandpiper. Someone has to do something, after all, and he's someone. During this time he runs back into some old frenemies, gets arrested, and gets saved from prison by Geralt coming back apologetic and in need of his help. Jaskier forgives him, of course, and helps Geralt go save his surrogate daughter. And spends most of that finale fight hiding under a table.

So yeah. Not particularly brave, not particularly strong, but goddamn it if he feels he can help he's going to. Also, a "sing-songy twit".

Vessel Type & General ideas: While I was tempted Token/Pyromancer for the Trauma that would give Jaskier but after going down the list to see what was already represented because I'm Like That I've been eyeing Satyr and have him at the current TDM as that. After some thought I settled on taking him post S2 rather than the more current post S3 since a lot of the stuff that would be mainly interesting to play out from that would lean too heavily on needing castmates. Post S2 I think there's more wiggle room.

Takumi is obsessed with his childhood friend, Karua, and protecting her. Honestly, he's got a huge savior complex and feels he has to shoulder the responsibility of keeping everyone alive and winning the war. No matter what it takes. Even if he has to do terrible things.

Generally he's just kind of a teenage boy, well-meaning and a bit stupid... but given way, way too much power in a horrible situation. If lying or killing is what's necessary to save his friends, then he'll do it. It is necessary. It has to be!

He's your worst nightmare, your best friend, the traitor and also the only one who sees the world for what it really is. Following the game's timeloop, he's immediately outed and stuck as a prisoner -- but as if that's gonna stop him from scheming.

He struggles to connect to anyone on a genuine level for obvious reasons of isolation and so a forced empathy mechanic would be SO much for him. But he would like monster transformations.

Not only that, but he was an immortal who couldn't die and thus was completely uninterested in saving the world.

So, what was a Guardian of Truth to do? She lied to him.

She's optimistic, full of her own faith (though not immune to doubting herself), resourceful and supportive. Laure manages to see things through, and yet...also ends up with more than she ever expected.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Offering: Golem. Between the mechanical hand she was already given by an ugly alchemist, and the weight of her own guilt, that seemed like the most obvious choice. There's also a good degree of fear of turning into something monstrous courtesy of the Malaise, so that can prey on her psyche.

Wolfwood hails from a planet disrespectfully known as No Man's Land, due to the fact that it's completely inhospitable to human life. There's sand, sand everywhere, and the planet is under duress because humanity kinda fucked the earth and now they're fucking over this planet + the alien race they're using to keep themselves alive, all good things I assure you. Anyway Wolfwood here is (unwillingly) part of a Plant (the alien I mentioned) centric cult known as the Eye of Michael, and he's basically contractually obligated to be their attack dog for the sake of keeping the orphanage he grew up in safe from harm. He poses as a wandering priest, but in reality he's an assassin! Throws confetti. There's a lot else going on under the surface but shh that's a surprise tool that will help us later.

Personality wise, Wolfwood's a prickly guy who prefers to work alone, less because he hates people and more because sticking around him basically guarantees Bad Things are going to happen to the people he cares about. He's dry, sarcastic, and EXTREMELY fucking annoying, but underneath all of that he cares deeply to his own detriment. He's so dumb but there's a heart of gold in there somewhere.

Vessel Type & General ideas: I am honestly too much of a furry to NOT want to go with Offering for him. The most obvious choice would be Lycan because haha Wolfwood and also I've been desperate to play him as a Werewolf-type creature in a game for EONS but at the same time I'm like weighs hands because it would also be fun to work with something less cut and dry and something he might struggle with more. Drake has endless possibilities (and who doesn't like dragon), but some interesting alternate ones I'm eyeing are Valkerie bc he has a lot of bird/hawk symbolism going on in the manga in particular that would be fun to draw out, as well as Satyr given that's one of the furthest opposite to his personality that would draw some interesting contrast. I am very indecisive as you can see-

He floats aimlessly through life right up until he doesn't have one anymore, and that's all well and good with him.

He's here for a good time, not a long time, and he's not even having a very good time. It's actually a really fucking bad time.

Forced to take on the mantle of one of the last symbols of hope in their broken world, Makoto tends to hide his negative feelings, even from his friends. Instead, he tends to show his positive ones, which luckily for him, is a lot of his personality.

Makoto is a truly kind and polite person, trying to show compassion to even the most terrible people. Friendly and approachable, Makoto tends to view himself poorly, seeing himself as ordinary in a world of extraordinary people, but sees others in a more flattering light. Despite his responsibilities as the Ultimate Hope and the state of the world he was in, he is a pacifist that tries to see the best in people.

Honestly the poor guy has no idea what he's doing but he's doing it well.

Honestly, I'm tempted to just go random since one of my favorite things about monster games is designing monsters to fit him, not the other way around. The story of Virche takes place on an island called Arpéchéle in Western Europe. Surrounded by dark and turbulent waters, barely any survive approaching or escaping the curse of death that plagues the island. Many put blame on the black flowers called the Lycoris Noirge that grow on the outskirts of the island or they feel they are the god of death's message to them. Here people only live to the age of 23, but it hasn't stopped them from fighting the fate of their short-lived lives. Scientists have created Reliver Technology, where one can upload their memories into a clone body and extend their lives of another 23 years, but the curse still remains.

A lot of unfortunate tragedies happen around the main heroine, Ceres, where people sometimes die before they can upload their memories to become relivers, so often the citizens call her Death itself. wow

And Adolphe is Ceres' foster brother. While love interests have their draws and quirks, Adolphe is hilariously just a guy in the midst of the island's mystery. It is the appeal of a normal person in an abnormal world obsessed with extending life in sacrifice of many things. At 21, he should be nearing his deathbed, but hasn't shown any sign of succumbing to the curse itself.

To be more serious, he's a reticent and private man who leads a watch and patrol group to maintain peace on the island. Beneath the aloof exterior is a kind heart worth the mantle of protector, though it can only be afforded for a handful of people. mumble mumble spoilers
