Welcome to Somnia's third ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. - EVENT/TDM: December 1stAn opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

Name: Camilla Hect
Canon: The Locked Tomb series
Brief Info: Camilla is a cavalier, the sworn protector and ‘other half’ of a necromancer. Not just that: she’s the Cavalier Primary of the Sixth House, avowed to the youngest ever Warden of the Library (as the Sixth, the House of academia and investigatory experimentation — “truth over solace in lies” - is also known)…who’s also been her best friend and closest confidante since both of them were about able to talk. She plays rhe Watson to Palamedes’ Holmes, often remembering the stray tools, strategic minutiae and to make him eat, but as he points out several times, Cam is equally brilliant. She defers, but we see her understanding, checking and enacting the setup for Pal’s necromantic theorems despite not being an adept, and learning new skills incredibly quickly. She’s just as committed to her role as a fighter, preferring dual curved blades, but capable with rapier and dagger and approaching duels strategically. She can be very stoic and somewhat taciturn. Despite that, even with others it’s clear she cares very much — sometimes a little too much — about her people and about justice, and can be unexpectedly warm or affected. Cam and Pal can tell what the other is thinking without speaking, often — though she likes to tease him - and are physically comfortable.
Which is a problem, because
At the point I’m pulling her from, Camilla — critically injured — has agreed (enthusiastically, in a scene that reads somewhat like wedding vows) to undertake a process with Palamedes that will essentially merge their souls into one new being, setting herself on fire and literally rising from the ashes: a total iconoclasm of the processes we’ve seen prior that often involve necromancers gaining power by killing and absorbing/consuming the souls of their cavaliers.
Only, she’d end up here - and, unless a Palamedes shows up real fast — alone…

So, I haven’t been seriously contemplating the look and thematic elements here at all…
As you can probably figure out if you clicked there, Seraph immediately called to me. The inability to lie, or being affected by lies fits well with The Sixth being devoted to truth, and she’s extremely justice oriented, even without Palamedes — she’s implied to have hunted down a domestic abuser and absolutely holds grudges, while also having a very strong moral compass.
The idea of her having a mission that she’s forgotten when in the dreamscape breaks my heart a little, given her devotion and the failure to finish her last act. Grief and devotion and how to exert agency within that is definitely a theme I’ll be playing with (and how better to be weird about agency than with angels…) .
I’m definitely picturing one manifestation being a pillar of fire à la certain Biblical texts. Jury’s out on if more firmly developed wings would have feathers with knife-edges or as I thought when reading the ashes idea, charred bone dust or bone pieces(bc of spoiler) and have her wielding a sword or knife/knives, archangel style.
I definitely had more thoughts here?? But damn, this is long.
Anyway, still getting feet under me at a new job but I would LOVE to get Cam in here — if not this app cycle then soon and definitely plan to be around the TDM. Have a LOT of ideas and I feel like the more I read the more I go ‘ooh ooh or!’
