Welcome to Somnia's third ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- EVENT/TDM: December 1st
- RESERVES: December 12th
- APPS: December 19th - 25th

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). The human psyche is also the subject of his research and he has something of a boogeyman-esque reputation for the experiments he conducts in his literally-underground lab at Whispering Rock.

Brief Info: the creature (he doesn't have a name, but fear not we're going to give him one) is victor frankenstein's humunculous of body parts strung together of a science project to try and cheat death. he's had to learn the ways of the world much like a toddler from learning what water and light to speaking and so on . . . sadly he's been through abuse at the hand of his creator and more, treated inhumanely on more than one occasion for what he is and being cursed with immortality— but he is the epitome of gentle giant, makes friends with rats and feeds deer. DISNEY PRINCESS LEVELS OF KINDNESS but he will fuck shit up if angry.... creature truly just wishes to belong, have friends, be on the receiving end of affection etc. he hasn't had much luck keeping his friends and that's not even his fault, so in this setting where connections are important, i feel like he's going to thrive and just. find his people. i'm going to cry.

i am not set on a canon point yet so i may leave that up in the air on the tdm, but i'm in between the end of the movie or after his little spirit of the forest arc. or maybe even somewhere in the middle of that and end movie, idk. some help with that would be nice!

Brief Info: You know that meme of "looks like a cinnamon roll/could actually kill you" vs "looks like they could kill you/actually a cinnamon roll"? Vash is the fusion of these extremes into "looks like a cinnamon roll, could easily kill you, is a cinnamon roll anyway". He's a fun contradiction of expert gunslinger who is nonetheless an extreme pacifist, with a mountain of survivor guilt for a spaceship crash his brother caused 150 years ago that stranded all the humans on an nigh-unlivable desert planet, and said brother may or may not have created a small cult of followers from the descendants of those survivors, so Vash will be so normal about Sleep. The most normal, ever.

I definitely would want to go Offering for Vash, with the most obvious being Leshy, but I'm intrigued by the notion of Seraph and Trickster too.

Wanted: Literally anyone! It's not a large cast, so I would eat anyone up, whether it's one of the main cast or even some of the rebels. But naturally, 4NAKT has my heart! Till's last memory of Mizi was seeing her in the crowd before... things!! And Sua would side-eye Ivan and Till so so much.

Also pls... Luka would be so funny in this setting. Pls don't die, my guy. Maybe being a mage or offering would help him health-wise. And the boys could absolutely use Hyuna to big sister and bully them.

Brief Info: Kunishige is basically a legend in his canon, the only swordsmith able to forge the enchanted blades that ended a brutal war. Unfortunately, they kind of ended said war by killing 200k people in one go, so after the war he gathered all the swords up and went to live in hiding where he could make sure they were never used again, and also raise his son Chihiro.

Then some shady sorcerers showed up, murdered him, and sent Chihiro into his John Wick era, but that's a story for another day.

Basically: he's a brilliant man who invented a weapon of mass destruction and carries the weight of knowing that he's allowed death and destruction on a scale the world had never before seen, but he's also a goofy dad who has a collection of stupid joke t-shirts and can't remember to feed the goldfish. He contains multitudes.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Artificer, baby. This man was born to forge, and he's going to forge. I want to tie his magic into metal and let him do what he does best...but, you know, hopefully with less mass destruction here. Unless we need mass destruction. He's capable of taking one (crushing guilt complex) for the team.

Brief Info: Maria is a very real woman and not just some manifestation created in some dude's head. Not a tulpa at all. Would a not!real woman tell you repeatedly she's real and warm? Of course not.

James Sunderland gets a letter from his dead wife to come find her and instead finds a woman that looks like her...but sexy! Maria was born in a super occult town from a dying woman, a grieving man, and their rapidly failing marriage (putting it simply). Silent Hill 2 plot put in not spoiler-y terms. Maria is really outgoing and flirty. She's the type to try to crack a joke in a dark situation or comfort you if you look a little sad. She has only had James for company and it's not the best situation. She's desperate for any recognition. At all. Like nod your head at her and she'll be over the moon.

She's got no fighting skills...or any skills for that matter. She doesn't even have a hobby. Maria is kind of a huge work in progress but she will be very interested in finding her identity! Not like she ever had the chance to before. I plan on taking her from Rebirth ending and for those in the know, she's gonna be very unhappy.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I plan on making her an offering and of the wraith type! If you know, you know ;) But listen, she is already from a shitty town that looks like it met the apocalypse so this will be a cake walk. Kind of

Brief Info: A hotshot pilot with a level of confidence and a tendency to crack jokes that can only be compensating for something deep and broken in his psyche. As a member of the elite team of The Wreckers, Rotorstorm is that good, but his tendency to show off and not take things seriously can put him in quite a bind - like getting shot in the head, for instance.

Due to the Horrors of War, Rotorstorm's seen some shit - but does that mean he copes with it healthily and is well-equipped for the horrors to come? I think we all know the answer to that.

Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm probably gonna go with Illusionist for him, since he puts on such a facade that's at odds with his true self. We can have fun with this. Depersonalisation, baby!

Vessel Type & General ideas: Token Illusionist because, in her canon she's close to the spiritual world and her using illusions is too good to pass up. Offering Trickster because she's essentially a puppet herself. Okay that's a lie I just enjoy the thought of her losing her sense of identity because it's close to what she fears. And once again, since she's her flavor of psychic lets her be close to ghosts and I may pull her from a later canon point so Wraith is a possibility.

Brief Info: A pop culture loving sunshine boy with Golden Retriever energy. He's the type of guy who hides his insecurities behind a cheery smile and makes it his mission to be useful

Brief Info: Crown Prince and 114th heir to the throne of Lucis, the kingdom with control over the Crystal. He weirds the Power of the Lucian Kings, which allows him to summon multiple spectral weapons, throw his weapon and warp to it, use magic, among among other things. He comes across as a snarky, stubborn child; the typical teenager (even though he's 20), not caring for much and wanting to be alone. Beneath all of that is an intelligent but troubled young man who fears the day he has to take the throne.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Oh I'm totally going to mess with him by basically making him a Wraith with inspiration from the Lucii and maybe some more daemonic traits like vampirism just to make his life miserable.

Other option is to become the very thing he is tasked with ridding the world with back home, a daemon.

Brief Info: élise is a french police detective who gets involved in a cross-channel investigation between britain and france when a body is found at the midpoint of the channel tunnel. she is very good at her job thanks to her thoroughness and attention to detail, but struggles with the social element: she is often accidentally insensitive, questioning the point of social niceties such as thanking her colleagues and praising them when they do good jobs. she can sometimes be logical to the point of emotional ineptitude and is often completely tactless in conversation.

BASICALLY: ripe for juicy empathetic connections because her own brain is so isolated.
Vessel Type & General ideas: token - aquamancer, because of her very strong connection to water (aside from the channel tunnel stuff, she almost drowned as a child and lost her twin in the same accident)

Brief Info: Not!French 32 year old Very Good Dude who has a year left to live and has decided to brave the wilds to kill the giant Paintress across the sea despite no one being able to do just that in 67 years. What can possibly go wrong! Engineer with a sick electric prosthetic arm, owner of an excellent moustache, adopted an awkward ginger girl, has a dark sense of humor, but also Believes In The Future and does everything for those who come after. Very much not over his dead ex-girlfriend but don't worry about it.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm not married to any specific idea, but Offering for Gustave could be interesting! I like Satyr, Seraph, and Leshy for him, though I'm not huge into monsterification. I also really like Token Artificer.

Name: Sciel
Canon: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Brief Info: Also not!French 32 year old with one year left to live who has joined the Expedition to defeat the Paintress, though she has less noble reasons. Really, Scirl is here for a good time, not a long time, and if she has one last adventure, then that's a success in her book! Farmer-turned-teacher, has a chill vibe when it comes to Death, but wants those she cares for to be happy and live fulfilling lives, no matter how short they may be. Has a fear of the ocean/water, but don't worry about it.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Also not super attached to any one specific thing, but I do lean more toward Token for Sciel, especially Necromancer, Illusionist, Shadowbinder, Runecaster, and Bloodwright.


Note:I am more comfortable playing Gustave, but I feel like Sciel would be a better fit for the game, so let me know how we're vibing~

Name: Murphy Pendleton
Canon: Silent Hill: Downpour
Brief Info: Murphy gets dragged into Silent Hill not because of his own trauma but because of someone else's. He's living through someone else's bad no-good time and just trying to leave. One of the few protagonists that has already made peace with the terrible things he's done. A mechanic sent to prison and did a murder while in prison.

He seems pretty >| a lot of the time but isn't all that heartless. He has a soft spot for those younger than him and wants them to be all right. Murphy keeps his distance from others as he fears they'll call him out on being an escapee from prison; however, he won't really have that issue coming here. So he'll be less on edge about that and more on edge about being in another fucked-up place.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Merrow. He got that water theme going on with him.

Canon: Arcane (League of Legends animation)
Brief Info: Vander comes from the undercity, which is an oppressed industrial complex for its sister city, Piltover. It is the city of steel and glass, and it is mostly carved under ground. Vander himself is a bartender and retired revolutionary who strove to have the undercity established as the free nation of Zaun. It didn't go his way, and he gave up, took in some orphans and attempted to murder his best friend, Silco. Needless to say, Silco survived and exacted revenge on Vander who "died", but must like most things in Arcane, dad-figures have a habit of popping up again and this time he came back as a hulking blood-driven unkillable murderous werewolf. Then he blew up. Twice. (Actually 3 times if we consider Vander's own experience).

So the moral of the story: It's Jayce's fault. His blue balls are explosive and Vander keeps taking it on the chin.
Vessel Type & General ideas: Vander will be a shifter, of course. I'm hoping to have him be Vander in one area and Warwick in the other and over the course of the game, the two parts of him will merge together until they are one.

Life has been smacking me around this month so I haven't gotten much done, but in the spirit of optimism that things will Get Better, I wanted to bring a gremlin in for December... help me pick which one!!

Name: Hiiragizawa Eriol
Canon: Cardcaptor Sakura / Clear Card-hen
Brief Info: Once the most powerful magician in the world, Eriol is 13-going-on-30 - or, well, 47? He also has all of the memories of the previous most powerful magician in the world, Clow Reed, who also happens to be the lynch pin that set the entire series in motion - and also in part for two of CLAMP's other series: Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE and xxxHolic. Don't think about it too much.

Eriol reminds the titular character a lot of her father, and it's not just because her father and Eriol are split reincarnations of the same soul (again, don't think about it too much). He is obnoxiously perfect: polite and well-mannered, intelligent, old-fashioned in his expression of being a gentleman, mature beyond his (physical) years, ceaselessly smiling, helpful, and worries/cares about those around him. Oh, and he can cook and sew. In private, he serves as the BBEG of the second arc of the original series for both selfless and selfish reasons, and as an inscrutable will-he-won't-he help sort of enigma through most of the new series. He's not above harmless pranks (mostly deceiving the gullible with absurd 'facts'), and is described by 'most people' as 'impossible to understand.'

Mostly I just think it would be fun to harass people with someone who looks like a 13-year-old in the hellscape that is Sleephattan, but is extremely uncanny.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Token / Runecaster - specifically, he uses tarot cards for readings in Clear Card-hen, so I thought it would be fun to bring to Somnia with a twist!

Name: Grey Lambe
Canon: Original Character
Brief Info: Grey is a quiet, unassuming young man that lives outside of a tiny rural town in the Appalachians, tending his vegetable and herb garden, foraging, studying medicine, caring for the health of the locals who begrudgingly visit him in emergencies because there's no doctor nearby... oh and he summons demons, by way of which he's currently in a situationship with Stolas, a prince of Hell. Did I mention Grey owes his soul to a different demon? He's working on it.

Grey was a military (Navy) brat, and has lived in several countries. After the death of both parents, he lived with a family friend he called Aunt in Australia. From her he learned witchcraft and working with angels. After not getting the answer he wanted from an angel at age 13, Grey turned to the Lesser Key of Solomon to see if a demon would be less scrupulous about returning the dead to life. (They weren't, but one of them did get the promise of his soul out of it.) Despite a less than stellar start to his career in demonolatry, Grey continues to work with demons, turning from the idea of ever seeing his parents again to instead learning and helping the living.

The only problem is, no one really wants anything to do with a witch - especially in the rural, deeply Christian American town Grey chose to settle in for Reasons™. But, desperate times call for desperate measures, even if that means bending one's morals.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Offering / Leshy - leaning towards the ghost gum tree for his form: think papery skin, spindly antler-like branches, and smaller draping branches that flower or fruit depending on the season.

Name: Tyki Mikk
Canon: D.Gray-Man
Brief Info: Tyki Mikk is the Third Disciple of the Noah Family, or the Noah of Pleasure, Joyd, who faithfully serves the Earl of Millennium. The objective of all of the Noah is to bring about the end of the world through three days of darkness, thus restoring their supremacy and wiping out Innocence. Tyki is foremost a Noah; he was, however, a normal human being prior to the awakening of the Noah "gene" in his reincarnated form. Thus leads to the duality of Tyki Mikk, struggling between his human side — playful, carefree, friendly, sympathetic — and his Noah side, bent on bloodlust and suffering and twisted pleasure.

So, he's technically a bad guy villain but he's also just here to vibe and have a good time. My main objective with Tyki is always to build deeper CR, because that's what challenges him. Having connections to others brings him into conflict with his Noah side the most; otherwise he can be fairly static/cavalier and just lets things happen as they will.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Token. Shadowbinder would be the most appropriate for Joyd, but Illusionist is tempting because I feel like I could write some fun/creative things with it.

Brief Info: Nautika is your nineteen year old, spirited explorer who was inspired by her late grandfather's stories and experiences to follow in his footsteps. Upon his return from Antartica, his change of heart led him to plead for Nautika to stay away from there and to not pursue the unknown—proof of the Mother Spirit's existence. However, she felt like they were so close that her curiosity eventually led her to Antarctica herself. There she had a no good very bad time, but ended up meeting the Mother Spirit and got an awesome chimera form after being reborn in hell sludge.

Fun fact: the lower half of her body was digested as she went through some mental trauma, but happens to all girls her age, dwbi.

Nautika has a few charm points but ever since her expedition went very very badly, one that stands out is the price she's paid in terms of her mental stability. Not only does she carry a lot of guilt over the deaths of the friends and family she lost on the expedition, which might make her pull away from people at first, but she'll be entirely skittish and impulsive in a new setting. Fear of death has ingrained itself so deeply into her that she's just as scared that people and her surroundings might hurt her as she is scared that she might cause harm to them. That said, she's still a researcher and explorer. Throwing herself into the mysteries of the setting would suit her great!

Vessel Type & General ideas: Bloodwright would be the obvious answer because canonly the less HP you have, the stronger Nautika makes the team, but I'll go Necromancer since I'm taking her right from where she died. Having been the reason why her entire team died and ate human bodies in the form of algae, I don't think Necromancer is too far from the horrors that she experienced! Also with her experience communicating with spirits and animals, she'd be more tapped in relying on them than actual people so she'd probably feel comfortable knowing she has some connection with them.

Brief Info: From the late Edo Period, Japan, comes to you: world's most cringefail avenger. Rin is the teenage daughter of a samurai whose parents were murdered on her fourteenth birthday. As one does, she has sworn bloody revenge, but unfortunately her lack of sword skills kinda axe that idea until an old nun tips her off to find herself a bodyguard; more specifically Manji, the titular immortal. Together, they encounter various people who took part in the murder of Rin's parents, get wrapped up in government conspiracies, gain unlikely allies and are subjected to The Horrors aplenty.

Raised a sheltered rich kid, Rin goes through a journey of growth and learning more about revenge, what strength means and how far she wants to go to get what she wants. Which turns out to be pretty damn far if you make her mad enough. She's a walking bag of contradictions: curious but ignorant, smart but impulsive, selfish but willing to stick her neck out for others, honest but manipulative when she thinks she needs to be, compassionate but vengeful. Generally she at least tries to do the right thing and can befriend almost anyone, though!

Vessel Type & General ideas: Pyromancer would be a good fit, since Rin is quite fire themed... in that she literally has a flame pattern on her kimono & does experiment with fire and gunpowder later in the manga!

He's a cringe 45 year old otherwise, lives on coffee and ice cream, goes camping for fun and plays the ukulele. Sometimes sees ghosts- isn't sure if his intern assistant is a real person or a nature spirit.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Token, Aquamancer is one idea- the nature spirit in question is one that resides in a mountain spring on the edge of Appalachia.

Canon: Code lyoko. I'm going with the cartoon version and ignoring the novels and evolution for the most part unless it's the fill in gaps.
Brief Info: WOO BOY
So leaning with season 1 canon point then updating later. So Aelita at this point thinks she's an AI, and until being in game she didn't have a physical body. So that'll be a whole lot of sensory overload for her.

Personality-wise Aelita's a nice, helpful girl, who can be a bit snarky at times. She curious about the world, kinda wants to see it but-
cw:suicide(of the passive variety) However she has zero self-esteem. Because she thinks she's an AI, she thinks her life is inherently worth less than humans. So there's multiple times where she pleads with the characters to stop endangering themselves to help her.

OH, she's also surprisingly okay with blowing shit up. Her and her boyfriend commit multiple acts of terrorism.

Then for possible updates (also code lyoko spoilers...for a 20 year old cartoon lmao)
- she learns that she was a real girl all along and her seemingly mad scientist dad just put her in a computer and vanished???
-ACTUALLY NO. He ran away with her there for their safety from the MiB
-She's spent 11 years frozen in time in this computer and her whole life before that is gone
-btw her other memories involve the MiB trying to take her, but getting her mom instead
-Then her dad gets murdered in front of her...but it's okay because the bad guy also died ig ;-;

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I'm leaning towards lightweaver. Because Aelita's powers in canon involve energy manipulation and it seems like a good balance. Her other power is environment manipulation but I can't choose a set element of that. She also has light wings that might be a form of the energy manipulation. Though she tends to get absolutely annihilated while using them.

Though I'm considering valkerie and seraph because she has an angel theme going on. Maybe chronomaster for the frozen in time elements and the computer she's in can rewind time.

Hakuri is the middle child of a powerful family of magical merchants that run black market auctions out of a mysterious subspace called the Storehouse. They all have powerful sorcery passed down their clan bloodline, except Hakuri, who just sort of sucks but they kept him around for the laff. He ran away from home after deciding human trafficking was wrong, perhaps?

Hakuri doesn't think he's good at anything except taking a beating, but he's very cute and has a decent sense of right and wrong (unlike someone else....) He's a crybaby, a lover of justice and samurai, and had a pet praying mantis he mourns every day. His daddy issues could be their own paragraph. Hakuri's actually pretty decent in a fight (and has more latent power then he or his family believe), but he tends to be his own biggest downplayer until its time to protect someone.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Not sure ngl! His canon powers are very space/shockwave themed which doesn't seem to have a direct 1:1 in Somnia, so I'd have think about it. If my voicetesting goes well we will think about it more seriously.
