When I was a child, I dreamed of helping others less fortunate than me. I became an officer to further that goal. [She makes a sound, a little amused.] I know it's naive. Trust me, I've learned that the hard way. But I'm stubborn, and I won't give up just because something is difficult. I still want to fix things.

And now, that desire extends to here too. I spent weeks underground with the other new arrivals - they're just as much my people as the ones from my home.
The desire isn't naive. It's just complex, if you're dealing with systemic issues.
