EMP & ATP 004 ● FEBRUARY 2026

ATP&EMP

Behold, an opportunity to gather.

Welcome to Somnia's fourth ATP & EMP Meme! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:
- EVENT/TDM: March 1st
- RESERVES: March 13th
- APPS: March 20th - 26th
An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Current players may extend their invites, and if you don't know anyone in the game, the mod will make a decision (note that this does not guarantee an invite). Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either— only to reserve and app.

Use the forms below to show us those pretty white jaws!

I love Ratio and your idea for his Kimera form is genius! It sounds like such a fun chaotic mess and I'm excited to see how it goes! I'm also very intrigued by your ideas for convergences and I would love for Sirius to meet him. He's tethered to both Caelus and Aventurine and he lives near their hotel so it would be easy for them to run into each other.

Sirius is an OC. He was turned into a mage, a magical being tied to his human soul so he has some experience with struggling with to hold onto his humanity when part of his soul is more primal and resonates with his emotions more than his conscious thoughts. It's better here but his nature as a Wraith reflects that inhuman part of his soul with very aggressive survival instincts and an insatiable craving for the warmth of the living as well as a hunger for dreams. So he won't hold it against Ratio if any of the ratiolings hurt him. Plus he's undead and his blood has dried into sand so he probably doesn't taste very good.

Sirius is incredibly smart, however he rarely shows it, aside from chess and dire circumstances, due to his doubts that he can never live up to everyone's expectations. I think would be a fun contrast to play with Ratio and Sirius is always looking for more chess buddies.

Ratio’s sanity slowly cracking as every time he starts to think there is rationality to them, the zoo in his head reminds him they are still animals at the end of the day with how often they look at anyone prey shaped and immediately go ‘FOOD?!’

Sirius is decently safe as long as others are in his vicinity and the Ratiolings aren’t starving. All are opportunistic animals that probably would be open to eating carrion if it came down to it, but be more interested in hunting something fresher. So Sirius is only on the menu as an absolute last resort.

He also would immediately be released the moment sand is tasted with a trio of “Ew”’s sounding out. Legit probably would spook the animals enough to stop trying to hunt people and go make a nest or something instead.

Catio: “I am no longer hungry nor having fun. We should go nap in a tree until this taste goes away instead and #0 ceases demanding to know what we’ve stuck in our mouths.”
Owltio: “Solid idea. This one agrees with the proposed motion.”
Ducktio:“Tree!”
Ratio: “I agree. Go find a tree to fall out of instead of attempting cannibalism. This is an extremely productive new angle I am thrilled to hear how you idiots will fail at as well.”
Ratiolings: “Quiet.”

Ratio will absolutely be thrilled about someone to play chess with. Only downside is that the council will attempt to backseat game with Ratio’s reaction legit being to do the opposite of whatever they think is a good idea. They still are Ratio at the end of the day. Chess is good.

… Which is why this occurs to me that him playing crappier because of the peanut gallery and losing would legit be controversial enough with the council who are all flavors of ‘idiot I could have done that better’ that it might be the exact kind of petty breaking point that could trigger the vote needed to evict Ratio from control.

Ratiolings: ‘L+Ratio, you are not winning, I am embarrassed to be stuck with you.’ ‘Zero points! Get out!’ ‘Lost. Why?’
Ratio: ‘If I let you idiots backseat then the chessboard would have been eaten ten turns ago when one of you suggested eating the pieces when Sirius wasn’t looking. So frankly, cease your backseating and get out.’
Ratio: …
Ratio: ‘Wonderful. I’m indulging the voices in conversation now. This is fine.’
Sirius: *Has been sitting watching Ratio zone out for a solid minute or two now*
Sirius: “You okay?”
Ratio: “Yes.”
Ratiolings: ‘Liar.’ ‘Liar.’ ‘Liar.’

Genuinely though, Sirius would be excellent to talk to for healthy instinct handling advice post “Oops, All Brains” reveal. I agree 100% with your vision of contrasting them against each other.

Poor Sirius is probably going to get stuck filling out a survey though as Ratio tries to quantify his situation with something more familiar and comfortable; science.

I love the ratiolings! Sirius isn't entirely human himself so he will sympathize with them, but also want to help Ratio not lose his sanity. Hopefully they can find a balance that works for everyone.

LOL oh no! Chess being the breaking point that triggers the vote to evict Ratio from control is too good. I'm happy to oblige!

I'm glad you approve and the fun contrast continues. Sirius comes from a world where magic is the physical manifestation of imagination and it's interwoven with the logic of the world. So he's more comfortable with magic than science. He will still do his best to try to translate his experience through the eyes of science though for Ratio's sake. It will be a fun challenge!

I am already getting attached to them too. Really hope the mods allow it. I’ll probably slow burn the growth of some actual ‘can think words’ intelligence just so Ratio can establish himself as reliable and stable first, putting himself in a position where he can’t easily admit to ‘Hey I am starting to hear concerning and extremely dumb voices’.

In fact, it’d be hilarious if him ignoring the instincts and input from those extra brains in the first place is at fault for the Ratiolings splintering off from him in the first place due to his nervous system rearranging to disconnect them less directly to his brain. Thus giving time for independent thought to form.

Then when the voices get annoying enough in their stupidity that Ratio can’t help but respond, his nervous system goes ‘oh he actually wants to talk to them, okay’ and starts reconnecting them again. Which also gives the Ratiolings opportunity to talk to each other eventually, where before it’s like sending annoying texts into the void and hoping to get noticed back.

With the more human gaps in the Ratioling’s intelligence directly prior to the Revolt is because Catio and Owltio were simply better than Ducktio in rage baiting Ratio into responding. With the nervous system then scratching its nonexistent head and going ‘Aight you are sending so many signals I’m gonna hook you up to the spinal cord more and adding some more wrinkles onto you.’

It’d be kinda funny if the Ratiolings see the inhuman part of Sirius and more or less go ‘You know what we like this guy better than our origin point. Not stupid, gets us. Can he just be our friend instead of Ratio’s?’ Owltio definitely would favor Sirius the most though because him and Ratio would both agree that learning about his world is fascinating.

Because I genuinely would love to have Sirius ramble to Ratio about magic. There is stuff that is basically magic in HSR, so Ratio would likely just treat it as another world specific science and want to learn. What is magic but insufficiently documented science?

He’d likely equate Sirius’ world to Planarcadia because the new HSR world is really similar to that with Imagenesis. Now that would be fun to talk about.

Also, bringing in magicians to the new DU project would likely be something that happens at somepoint. Herta’s simulation can’t be entirely recreated unless some artificers help out. But using imagination/soul/illusion magic to give people an out of body experience while translating the RNG results of a simple enough generation program would be potentially more doable, as the major roadblock to DU creation would be the graphics part of it.

A Magic-Technology solution would give a lot of people opportunities to have their characters contribute too, so I think it’d be the most fun approach on a meta level too.

I really appreciate everyone responding to all my responses back and ETA here. It’s super helping me further flesh out my ideas and how I’d want to handle them.

If Em’s down for it like Anna is, slow burning things would give time for both Phoenix and Naegi to get in the game to be defense attorney and prosecutor for the attempted murder trial Ratio would insist on having over the Ratioling’s actions for the sake of social peace and propriety.

Look they may be in apocalypse dreamworld, but that’s all the more reason to not let anyone feel like consequences were not fairly decided upon and had.

Point is, Naegi would likely have been one of the ones attacked at somepoint because he’d look like a delicious and squishy bug. I mentioned to Anna that Catio probably would play long enough for someone to come in and boop the Ratiolings on their snoots to drive them off and prevent any actual death.

So I’m proposing if both sides are vibing with the idea that it’s Sirius who intervenes. Then joins Naegi as his Kyoko doing some of the tagging during the trial as apart of the prosecution.

Because It’d be funny as hell if the prosecution was entirely made up of people who are also the hurt parties in the case yet still essentially collaborating with the defense to throw the trial to an acquitted verdict.

Ratio just in the defending booth looking at his prosecutors like “I am facing no consequences today, aren’t I? This is the exact opposite of what I wanted to happen.” While the Ratiolings are going “Maybe Food can be friends instead.”

All this kicked off by the straw on a camel’s back of a lost chess game. Because Ratio is deeply ridiculous as a person internally, so of course his fragments would inherit that.

Who knows, maybe some of that mentioned weakness to Sleep played a part in things too if the mods want to take advantage of that to tweak the Ratiolings behavior during said incident.
