But I was told it's a bit dangerous to say one's real name in a supernatural space.
However, I do feel like the damage is already done, but I'm being worried about by someone... so I want to respond to that care in any small way to show it's accepted and appreciated.
Oh, that's fair. There's something about spirits stealing your identity so you can take their place in hell, isn't there?
( there's something about the kindness it takes to go out of your way for someone like that... ) All right, Mr Bagwaji. Who's this boss of yours anyway?
Hmmm... ( the hum is mild but a touch, just a touch, incredulous. )
Really? Guess it was someone else.
Ah, but he gave me a deer mask when I broke mine. One with pretty big antlers... But I haven't seen anyone like that outside the dream. Is he here, in the city?
[ Yuuto gives a short nod as he agrees that doesn't sound like Roe Deer. ]
It's fine. [ As an adult, he should have teenagers believe it's nice to be working, right? Even though, he might be the most employed man ever in this plane of existence. ] I don't think that he's all that brutal.
[ Smash cut moment of him remembering Roe Deer cutting off his hand. Hm -- ]
He's fine. [ And lots of complicated thoughts that he doesn't think he should worry about -- ] He likes to think he isn't nice, but he is kinder than he realizes. I believe kindness isn't a fault in others, but a virtue.
Even if others trample on it, even if you're taken advantage of, wouldn't you still want to be known as kind?
Fine, huh... What do you count as brutal, by the way?
( something like this needs an established baseline, yoshiki has learnt as much by now…
that is an absolutely insane smash cut, by the way. quit your job, yuuto, you surely have others to fall back on. )
Fine's startin' to sound like a euphemism... Though I think you're right, 'bout kindness being a virtue.
( then yoshiki falls quiet. it's not that he's thinking twice about kindness nor its limits. after all, being kind is good, and being good is the right thing to do. it's just… he thinks about 'hikaru' calling him kind, and wonders. )
I'm not sure... I'd want to be known as anything. But no matter what others do, the least we can do is try to be good... Would you want to be known as kind?
[ IT'S FINE! It was to stop from being too wild and crazy as a seeker. ]
Hmm - that's a good question.
[ What does he consider brutal? Well, since he's condoning humanity's extinction back home, it seems kind of silly for him to quibble over what anyone does to him. Of course, he doesn't have an inferiority complex or martyrdom. It is as he thinks - it's silly to care. ]
That's hard. [ Let's see -- ] I am a person that flows well with others even if those people are difficult for most people. So, I guess, I don't know the answer.
[ He smiles. ]
I'm relieved you think of kindness as a virtue.
[ Does he want to be seen as kind? ]
Mm! There's nothing wrong with being seen as kind.
( oh! it really was fine... fly high, chopped off dream hand.
meanwhile, there's a noticeable tremor, a stunned sort of silence in response to the inability to decide what is and isn't brutal. )
You... ( yoshiki already knows yuuto isn't joking. this is the first time, unbidden, that he gets the indescribable sense that someone is dangerous. and, possibly, not exclusively to others. ) Yer saying you don't have any lines, you know? Nothing you mind getting crossed?
( that, too, isn't truly a question. if it were, it'd be self-answering. at the same time, yuuto is, to him, undeniably kind. as yoshiki is now, it's not difficult to reconcile and accept these things, especially since yuuto doesn't seem to be hurting anyone. )
Well... think you've done enough for a lotta people to think you're kind around here.
[ Yuuto tilts his head and smiles. The question that Yoshiki is asking isn't really a question, but it sounds like he wants to be consoled. No one wants to believe they trust in someone who isn't a good person.
Unfortunately, he can't say he's a good person - he's just tries to be a responsible person for the teenager. ]
Rest assured, I recognize the actions done to others... but since you're asking what might be a problem with how people treat me... I get along with people too easily for people to even think about doing anything.
[ Ha-ha. Oops. Almost showed too much of his hand there. ]
despite knowing that there are countless perspectives on what should and shouldn't be done to people, those that deviate from his own… are still impossible to accept from a person.
—and so it works. )
Ah, so that's how it is.
( it's easy enough to say but if yoshiki hadn't tucked his head aside to obscure his expression with his hair, it would be embarrassingly evident that he takes the answer with a struggle. but yuuto went out of his way to say as much, so yoshiki can at least repay it in kind. )
How do you manage that, by the way? Getting on with people so well.
[ How can he put it? Getting along with people is easy with the level of apathy that he has. He doesn't think of himself as superior or inferior to anyone, but is humble about his abilities and capabilities.
He is aware of the friction that naturally occurs when people interact with others and creates an mood that removes all resistance. Slowly, steadily, water smoothing over a rock until everything flows easily. All without the rock fully realizing that it's been altered to make things simple.
Hm --!! ]
I've been in customer service for so many years that these are just skills that a person picks up. [ Ha-ha-ha. ] You have to learn to get along with even the most difficult person to ensure what you both want done is completed.
[ A pause. ] But really, people weren't built to be alone, I suppose. And it seems even those from other universes and species are the same.
[ Yuuto smiles - but he could live alone. He could simply not be with anyone and be fine. However, that's by his choice rather than something he was born with; he could easily be someone who could live with others and care and attach himself, but he simply ... feels disquieted at that thought. ]
However, I think that the way you get along with people is wonderful, Yoshiki-kun. You're still figuring it all out but you don't balk or back away... I think that's far more admirable than the way I get along with people.

My boss gave it to me.

( he's resisting asking things related to this boss, for now. the questions just keep coming... )

( pause for consideration. deer... ) In the last dream. Black cat mask? ...Lots of items?

Hm - I don't think so. I believe his mask is a deer's.

[ Hmmm -- ]
I think his mask looked more like a dragon, actually. I guess that makes sense, he is regal.
[ And he knows SO MUCH about dragons being a dragon himself, ha-ha! Figuratively speaking. ]
no subject
though yoshiki is interested in that dragon bit. )
What's it like, working for someone like that? I hear dragon bosses are pretty brutal.
