Blurp: Former movie star girl dad from a world that nuclear bombed itself into a "fun" apocalyptic setting. While a lot of people died during the bombs, lots of people survived too. Granted everything was irradiated to shit now, but in the words of Jeff Goldblum, "Life, uh, finds a way." and it sure did. It's been over 200 years since then and shit is still low key, and very high key depending on where you go, irradiated. Food. Water. People. Animals. Many things evolved and changed due to the radiation, freakishly large animals, weird mutated fruits and vegetables, polluted water and of course it effected humans too. Like Cooper. Some died, some lived and others the radiation mutated them into ghoulish zombie like beings.

A Ghoul. Mistreated and hated by many humans, their appearance is unnerving, but if they play their cards right they can live extended long lives. Cooper himself is over 200 years old, living from before the bombs dropped. Being around that long and living through some of the worst shit imaginable, Cooper has gone from what one could call a good man into a pessimistic and jaded ghoul who roams the wastes of a ruined world with little regard for life. He's real good at killing shit and doesn't discriminate on who or what he kills.

Quippy and what he'd consider realistic, Cooper sees everything as dog eat dog. Everyone is just looking out for themself and trusting people is more likely a way to end up with an explosive collar around your neck sold to slavers. Or dead. Dead is usually how it goes. Though he's definitely not one of the good guys anymore, he just tells it like it is.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Would be making him a Token as he's already technically a monster. Artificer could be interesting, as he's already used to tinkering and crafting his own shit so to speak. He's definitely modified his own guns and ammo, being able step that up with funky magic stuff would be extra fun. That and making other gadgets for mayhem and destruction. Also I'm not saying he'd build a mechanical dog familiar, but... yeah. Though making him a necromancer would just be funny, because. I mean look at him.

I'm honestly terrible at planning out and having solid plans of what I want to do with a character in a game, it really all depends on how the setting grows and changes and CR and stuff. I'm a grow with the flow sorta player, but I love both good and bad CR! Especially with a character like this. Cooper will be post Lucy saving his stupid ass after the whole selling her for drugs debacle. Though he'll still be before meeting back up with her at the Observatory and dealing with the whole Moldaver and her dad mess.

Kinda fell out of doing much RPing for a bit now, but the siren call of a game does like whispering in my ear and I'm definitely keeping my eye out for the TDM.

i think after 200+ years of irradiated hell on earth, he deserves a fun mechanical dog familiar... it is his right. very interested in seeing how he might go about forming bonds after everything he's been through!

It's true he does! He's an asshole, but he's got a soft spot for puppers.

Also the fun thing about being tossed into a new setting that while as fucked up as his own, he still doesn't understand all the ins and outs of this one. Old man has to work with other people to stay alive oh no. He won't like it, but it's not like he can't play "nice" for his own means.

i haven't seen fallout but i get recommended by a lot of people to check it out. but from your blurb of him, i can see jinx and cooper getting along in some aspects! i don't know if you're canon-blind to arcane or not, but jinx also kills things! or well, she used to. she's trying to turn over a new leaf and be more of a good person. but i'm sure she'll screw up, relapse, and go back to her bad ways from time to time. and on the plus side, she'll think cooper will look super cool! his appearance won't bother her in the slightest.

and not only that, jinx and lucy are both voiced by ella purnell, so i'm sure that won't be weird at all, lmao. but jinx is also a walking trigger character, so if you prefer not to interact with her because of who she is, definitely get it! either or, i still want to see him in the game.

I am in fact familiar with the show! Woe that it didn't get 3 seasons to better take it's time and have space to breathe, but it sure was pretty all the way through! IDK if you've played any of the Fallout games, but you don't have to to enjoy the show. They're good at holding your hand just enough to understand what's going on without being patronizing and annoying about it.

And we love a girl who kills things in this house voiced my Ella Purnell. They do sound different, but Jinx got them big ol eyes too. Laughing at Jinx like SHRUG EMOJI weird ass zombie cowboy looking guy, meanwhile Cooper looks at Jinx and thinks she looks like she'd fit in with one of the homicidal drug gangs that terrorize people in the wasteland.

But nah I'd be cool with bouncing off her, triggers and all. Cooper's fucked up too, kills a lot of people, children are not exempt from that, tried to sell a person to be used for organ harvesting to get drugs, has done cannibalism. He's been around for a while lol I'm sure there's a lot more.

oh, don't get me started. i can go on a TANGENT over how disappointed i am with how season 2 went. i mean, i'll always recommend arcane to anyone, overall, it's really a wonderful and beautiful show. but MAN, season 2. there were so many plot holes, side plots that never got addressed again, characters making "wtf" decisions, and flashbacks that made no sense and made season 1 inaccurate.

i love playing jinx and all, but.... ngl, it's been... a challenge playing her season 2 self since there's a lot of LMAO all the important stuff happened off-screen, so make up your own adventure lmaooo. but yeah, like i said, i can... go on forever with my thoughts about it.

i have not played the games either, because i'm a dumb nintendo switch player. i had a ps4, but it's slowly dying. but hey, jinx looking like a homicidal drug gang isn't too far off!

well, cooper sounds like a very colorful character, and i am definitely looking forward in her messing with him. probably tease him and give him a stupid nickname. like Mister Wrinkles. Or just Wrinkles.

LOL no worries, trust me I've gone on some rants with a friend many a time. We watched through the series together and sometimes I'll just be like HHHH AND THIS THING RIGHT HERE MAKES NO SENSE BLAH BLAH-! Like did I enjoy my time watching it? Yes. Do I scream yell and throw up about a lot of character stuff because I love it? Also yes. But also I will forever wonder why they squished it all into 2 seasons, probably some corporate nonsense.

Look nintendo switch players are valid too. Also fun that in Arcane the drug lords are called chem barons and in Fallout drugs are called chems.

Mr. Wrinkles is very fitting lol I mean he looks like an old sad hairless cat lbr. Please make fun of the old man and be a general nuisance to him, he deserves it.

John would find the idea of the Ghoul's Earth hellish. (Any scientist really finds the idea of nuclear war terrifying.)

I have no idea how they'd get along but I do know that they'd be on the same page at least at some moments about killing the shit out of things due to a mutual pragmatism in places of lawlessness, interesting conflict at times where John would possibly want to take a moral high road Ghoul doesn't, and their dialogue would be fantastic. He'd probably call him the Crypt Keeper.

Ooh I haven't looked at the TDM yet but am going to do so over the weekend and if you have a TL I'd love to tag!

Freddie here is a pilot fresh out of 10 years of his deal-with-the-devil term in the Air Force because he couldn't afford flight school and graduated with the wrong degree and >100k in student loan debt from a private college. Based on what I know of his personality (semi-canonblind) I feel like their dynamic could be super interesting - especially because of his participation in war, too, the whole American Dream thing, and then the fact that while Freddie's payload wasn't nuclear he very much was dropping bombs that could cause visually similar injuries and scarring to what Cooper has.

There's also the angle that if Freddie knows only that he served in a war and sees his scars, he's going to assume that Cooper got them from either a proper bomb as he knows them or an IED of some kind. Given that those were an issue when he was deployed, he's going to feel real fuckin' weird about that because he has a lot of thinly repressed guilt and feelings of inadequacy over accepting a Purple Heart he technically qualified for because he took a rock in the calf muscle while standing in the shrapnel radius of a mortar blast - removing it was an outpatient procedure with local anaesthesia and no sedation, so he didn't want to accept it because it didn't feel 'serious' enough compared to the horrible injuries other people get the Purple Heart for, but his buddies convinced him it was a bad financial decision to decline it when awarded because someone with the PH gets priority hiring status and free healthcare for life, and like, he's American.

So if he thinks Cooper has the kind of battlefield injury he thinks is truly deserving of the medal he got, and the kind of injury and sacrifice Freddie feels his acceptance of the medal cheapens, hoo boy. He's gonna act real fuckin weird about this!!

And of course he is NAWT going to just... ask what happened, because he knows nothing about Ghouls and he thinks this is Just One Guy and it would be extremely nosy and rude LMAO.

Howdy, I do have a TL on the TDM!

Also gonna be 100%, not interested in engaging with all the ED stuff, which I know is something coming from the person playing a 200+ old ghoul who's killed a kid and does a cannibalism on the occasion, among other terrible things. Totally fine with war/military talk, though! Cooper won't be singing any patriotic praises, but he can commiserate over losing good men in bullshit wars and all that.

Thank you for being upfront and real about that, I really appreciate it. I think if it's an isolated conversation in which his attention is very much occupied by the much more immediate feelings of guilt/weirdness/desperation to talk to someone who understands something about war and killing he wouldn't have the mental room to devolve into disordered thought patterns/thinking about food/his body, whereas it'd be more likely to eventually tangentially come up with ongoing cr, so TDMwise it should be avoidable!

I'm also ruminating on potentially TDMing a whole other second guy, too, who doesn't have those themes - I am nothing if not predictable and tend to be like a fly going to a sticky trap any time there's a canon involving aviation which I just think is Neat (hence the Themes in multiple OCs lmao) so he is ALSO a pilot, albeit a WWII guy with a much less sociable or outwardly cheery personality. May also paw around with him if nothing of general war things/Catholic mental gymnastics/era-typical views on gender and sexual orientation (he's leftwing but still has some classic 1940s Man, nonreligious internalized homophobia, though I doubt it would come up) is a dealbreaker. I will note that he may react more strongly to Cooper's scars, because as someone getting shot at way, way more than Freddie ever was Cooper sort of embodies his worst case scenario (he's 25 and single and kind of afraid of Becoming The Other).

I have a little blurb for John here with The Gist. Deciding between satyr/merrow/valkerie and honestly super torn in 3 diff directions and plan on testing all of them, so if you'd be interested in tagging and there's one that sounds more fun to play against lmk! Otherwise will probably RNG lmao.

Idk why I never got around to playing/watching it tbh but it's on the list because that is a particularly delicious bowl of themes to me and I would very much enjoy snuffling around them be it by canon consumption or osmotic consumption once he's had a little more time ingame and specific themes are more certain to be avoidable!!

The show is very approachable even if you've not played the games! Holds your hand enough to understand stuff, but doesn't treat you like an idiot. If you wanted to watch that is haha

I do want to watch it!! I've had Encounters with a few Fallouts on the memes and it's got me interested. I was never a gamer bc sitting down and locking in like that is super difficult for me lmao so I love that there's an adaptation now.

And no seriously right back at you, not everybody has been nice to me as a person about me choosing to write a character like this, so I seriously appreciate the kindness of just being real about boundaries and living/let live.

Still haven't forgotten about touching his TL with my Soon to Be Selkie boy whom I plan on apping in September, by the way!! I've just been super slammed and mostly just sort of come up for air on the weekends like the majestic harp seal u know how it is

Nah I get that, gaming isn't everyone's thing and certain games aren't either too. The show is apparently canon to the games and is the furthest in the timeline, but you get the need to know stuff watching the show and if you ever wanted to know more wikis are pretty dang extensive and helpful.

I'm playing a man with no nose who murders people like he's racking up points in Duck Hunt on the NES, mercs a kid, attempts to sell a woman to get drugs he needs to not lose his mind, has done and will probably do a cannibalism again if needed. Among other shit. IDK if I can judge too much lol

And no worries or rush, I'll be focusing more on the new months stuff soon as is getting the ghoul all settled in!
