Welcome to Somnia's first EMP! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Criminally insane, Jinx has a love for wanton chaos, destruction, and anarchy, and gets easily bored if these reckless urges are left unsatisfied for too long. Jinx isn't shown to think much about the consequences of her behavior and generally acts before thinking, which can lead to people getting hurt easily when around Jinx. While she is clearly a gifted inventor, Jinx is also extremely scatterbrained, forgetting scientific terms and instead imitating gun noises while she constructs her weapons.

Jinx is often portrayed to be hyperactive and very childish, complaining when she doesn't get what she wants and calling others by immature names, giving Vi nicknames such as "Fat-Hands" and "Stupid". With her carefree, self-centered attitude, Jinx doesn't care about money, order, or what others think about her and just destroys what she wants when she wants. Despite this, she still likes to get recognition for her many crimes and is capable of showing off to the Piltover police, knowing that no matter what goes down, she will always get away.

Despite her immature and silly demeanor, Jinx is still a significant force of evil and malice, even if in her crazed mind she sees it as a game. She would put on a veneer of a bubbly and energetic person, only to hide the hurt and trauma of past events. She's also very sarcastic, extroverted with a twisted sense of humor.

If I pull through, I'm choosing Token as her vessel, and I'm deciding between Aquamancer, Aeromancer, or Pyromancer.

And as for her canon point, I'm thinking pulling her in the beginning of E9 from S2 while she is in the middle of [REDACTED]. I... don't have any general ideas but beyond that, haha?? I'm about, I don't know, maybe 90% sure I want to give this game a try, but there's still that 10% I won't. Just depends on how TDM will go!

Blurp: former show pony golden boy turned sad man who had a field trip to the apocalypse, broke his leg and got stuck in a hole for his birthday. jayce is a failry good science guy who mcgaivered his way out of the horrors (and his bisexual demons!), just a little unkempt and now permanently disabled (his leg went spelunk). I'll be taking him from ep nine, shortly after he and viktor nuked the astral plane.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I'll be going with offering for him, and the three i have lined up for the roulette are:

my general plans are to explore a post canon situation with him and not only how he deals with his new disability but also the ptsd we don't get to see in canon along with the general repercussions of everything and reintegrating with people when he was ready to explode into the great beyond bc s2 rushed af and i won't even get started on the writing. that is where i am at. going to gather found family like pokemon

A foxian doctor who pioneered a new kind of medicine via culinary skill and good food, riddled with wartime trauma, polite yet deeply sarcastic, and recently blinded in an attack by a longtime enemy of his people but ultimately prevailed due to his cunning.

Vessel Type & General ideas:

Bloodwright, probably? He's very tied into healing as a character, so it'd be interesting to give him the ability to do it magically -- it would also be very interesting that it has the equal ability to harm, something he would struggle incredibly with if it ever goes out of control.

My two character options that I'm picking here would either be interesting on a day-to-day basis for the basic living situation of the characters, or would be interesting on a long-term plot basis. Jiaoqiu is the former; being a doctor, he would be instrumental in a post-apocalyptic setting, and being a chef, he would be able to make even rations palatable. He's a largely polite character and gets on with most, though he has a vicious streak of sarcasm. He's a scholar, and so would be interested in learning about this world and its god, though he doesn't have great experiences with gods.

The connection function would be especially interesting for him, given that Jiaoqiu's largely dead inside. He was a wartime medic for so long that it gave him significant trauma, causing his emotions (and his sense of taste) to shut down. So, making connections is a rare thing for him.

A demigod who slew her own godly body to live as a spirit inhabiting a porcelain and metal doll -- life-sized, four-armed, blue-skinned, with a comically large witch hat. She encouraged the MC of Elden Ring of kill all the corrupt gods (including her own family) so that Ranni could become the new, fairer god

Vessel Type & General ideas:

For Ranni, I'm not sure entirely sure! Definitely a monster type, since it would be frankly hilarious to have a doll body turning into a monster. Probably something bird-like, or angelic.

If Jiaoqiu is the character I thought would be interesting on a day-to-day living situation basis for this game, Ranni is the one that would be interesting for how she can relate to the plot. One: she'd indulgently find it amusing to have been tugged into this place by a fellow god, but would be irritated at not being able to leave, to say the least, as she is not a fan of most other gods. Two: she relates heavily to the moon, being a Lunar Princess and using lunar magic.

Personality wise, she would be somewhat difficult to get on with for most other characters. She speaks in a way I can only describe as gently Shakespearean with riddles and enigmas, she doesn't clearly say what she means all that often, and she's just kind of manipulative. Underneath all of that, though, she's a good person (despite the god she murdered and the war she kicked off)! She wants the best for people, and is willing to sacrifice everything about herself for it. She would also just be kind of hilarious to have around, because of waves hands everything that she is and the way that she behaves. She would be very interested in studying the magic here, as she comes from a royal family of scholars.

Also, she's many many eons old, forged very connections, and forging more here would be a WHOLE EXPERIENCE for her.

Former headmaster of a school for monster hunters, full-time immortal with a really inconvenient way of reincarnating. Ozpin is like any typical mysterious and powerful mentor figure that's never as much help as it seems like he should be, only the audience actually gets to see why he's like that. Turns out the answer is that he's depressed, exhausted, overly cautious, still reeling from a violent divorce 2000+ years ago, and way too passive. Overall he's a well-meaning guy that's running himself ragged trying to keep the world turning, but he's still a manipulative lair.

He's also just kind of a weirdo who's way too amused by his own antics. Mind you, said antics include giving children swords that are also guns, embarrassing his successor in front of his peers, launching his students off a cliff on their first day at school, and drinking hot cocoa out of a fancy teapot.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
It's always so hard to choose monster types for me and this time I can't even choose between token or vessel! So my tentative ideas for each are:

For token, my top choice is Chronomancer! Ozpin can use time magic in canon and already has themes of fractured memories/personalities in his backstory! Also he's got a fixation on clocks, and I think it would be very funny to inflict the 'aura messes up clocks' weakness on him.

For offering, I'm torn between Trickster (trickster aspects + identity horror just suit him), Seraph (he is on a literal mission from god even if he's not enjoying said mission), and Lycan (because he's Wizard of Oz themed and I can turn him into Toto do you guys see my vision).

Viktor is a scientist focused primarily on mechanical engineering and MAGIC BABY!! His ambition for progress is fueled by growing up "on the wrong side of the tracks" so to speak, where pollution and poverty caused himself and others to develop illnesses or birth defects. He's selfishly motivated by his own need to prolong his life, but it comes with a big helping of wanting to extend the benefits of his research to others in need.

SEASON TWO SPOILERS: After he's forced to become One with his magical rubix cube, he gets very in touch with the arcane and magic but also loses a lot of his humanity. I'm planning to take him from the end of the series when he's woken up to some of the horrors he's created, like turning people into robots... with good intention!!! But he's got a lot of trauma to process, a lot of issues trusting himself, a lot of weirdness going on with his body, and a bunch of other juicy things to explore!

THERE ARE MANY COOL OPTIONS but I'm leaning the most heavily towards a runecaster Token because well iykyk 👀 A big chunk of Viktor's life and scientific research has revolved around runes and figuring out how to combine them to achieve different effects, so it would be perfect for him AND I also have some fun ideas about how use over time will change his appearance. I think an artificer would also suit him, but idk man I'm so drawn to the runes! (pun intended)

NOTE: Olly is a very tentative choice, since 4/5 most important castmates are under the age of 16! Still, I wanted to toss him here because I do think he'd be a lot of fun.

Olly is a Witch and inventor of magic contraptions! He's your classic 'grumpy guy that is actually a huge softy'. You know, he insists that he doesn't want apprentices, then looks after his best friend's apprentices like they're his own, to the extent of putting himself in very real, very mortal peril for their sake. Or he puts a ton of effort into monetizing his work and then gives some of his work to the common folk for free.

He's basically a gifted kid who did not suffer gifted kid burnout, but also never quite learned how to take care of himself. He complains that his room is only clean when he's avoiding a deadline. He finds it easier to invent a magical device to make himself look better than to just shave and get a solid night's rest. There's an entire chapter dedicated to how critical of and frustrated with his own work he gets the more he works on it. There's a Defunctland quote that goes "I hate literally every step in the filmmaking process. The only thing I hate more than making a film is not making a film." and that's basically Olruggio about magic!

Vessel Type & General ideas:
For Olly, I'm only considering token options! My top choice is pyromancer, since this is basically what Olly is in canon, and I think he'd be delighted (if freaked out) to suddenly be able to control fire without having to draw all his spells out first. Artificer is next because, again, that's exactly what he does already. And for a wildcard 3rd choice, I'm thinking beastkin! Because he gets along with the family pet in canon.

Hi there! Super excited to see other Arcanes interested in this game!

I love the idea of Jinx as an aquamancer because of the water motif re: Silco, but pyromancer also suits her so well since she loves to blow things up, but then ALSO aeromancer fits her so well, I think because it reminds me of her cloud tattoos!

I'd definitely love to have Viktor and Jinx hang out, I feel like they would be such a sassy duo

Sunny is a fearful and frightful 16-year-old boy who hasn't left his house in about four years. Grief and trauma have caused him to become a recluse who spends most of his time sleeping, where he gives over to a boy called Omori and traverses a vast and strange dreamscape. Very apropos of a setting like this! I don't want to give everything away yet, but tl;dr: he is very timid, very jumpy, and very [static noises]. Also, he is a silent/nearly-silent protagonist, which I'm going to try to play as faithfully as I can, so there may be some communication barriers to work around as we thread. >:3b

Also, for those who are familiar with the game, he will likely either be coming from a pre-lightbulb canon point, or a post-bad end canon point of some variation.

ONE MORE NOTE!!! I use this journal to play both Sunny and Omori, but they are two entirely different characters, and I only plan on playing Sunny if I were to play here.

Vessel Type & General ideas: I am VERY torn on whether or not to make him a token or an offering. BOTH SUIT HIM FOR VARIOUS REASONS. He definitely has an "I'm a monster" complex, which is fun to explore, but he also would be suited to a more mage-like role with his video game protag energy (both in a meta sense, and just the way he views himself). If I do go with a token, he will definitely be an illusionist (liar class, secret-keeper class...it's honestly perfect). I'm going to think very hard about it if I decide to post on the tdm.

I don't have a ton of specific plans yet. I'm really a "see what happens" type of RPer, so I hope to explore dynamics of the game once I'm able to dive into threading!

My interest was piqued at "magic contraptions" and would definitely love to throw Viktor at Olly if you app! He's definitely not on the same level of artificing since he's mainly created things that use magic as an energy source, so it would be interesting to see them compare notes, so to speak

Lucanis is an expert assassin specializing in the execution of powerful blood mages.
After killing a high profile supremacist blood mage, he earned himself the title "The Demon of Vyrantium" and caught the eye of a magister who later captured Lucanis and forcefully inserted a demon of Spite into his body.

It is unheard of for a demon to possess a non-mage, and even if it wasn't, the binding is typically a consensual agreement between mage and demon. In Lucanis and Spite's case, theirs was unwanted on both sides, and therefore the two of them made an agreement in the name of vengeance.

Lucanis is an introvert, an insomniac, a workaholic, a lover of coffee, and a fan of trashy romance novels. He isn't used to working with a team, but he loves caring for them and cooking for them. He has trouble articulating his feelings and is his own worst critic, but deep down all he craves is acceptance.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I would like to make him an offering, and ideally a VALKERIE. Wings are his whole thing. I could live with DRAKE or DAEMON; honestly just interested in a form that offers him a lot of the stuff he deals with already in canon.

I am more generally excited about having him cope within a dreamlike world. I love building CR with him, particularly cross-canon, and I am still determining how I will app him as far as in-game choices go. Definitely going unromanced, but I am not yet certain if I will make him 'hardened' or not.

Right?! All three of them fit her so perfectly, and I keep going back and forth between them. Especially with Aquamancer because the MME lyrical music video with Coldplay mentioning Scylla as a reference to Jinx.

But also, I have this stupid theory that Jinx is pretty much the new Janna with her being the symbol of Zaun and all. And Janna is/was the Wind Goddess. So Aeromancer is good too! So it's just aaaaa, hard to choose, but hey! That's why the mod will do it for me.

They are a sassy duo and it sucks they didn't get to interact more in s2. WASTED!!!

Maria Renard | Castlevania Nocturne

Maria is the 16 year old adoptive sister of Richter Belmont, daughter of a Russian Speaker named Tera. Secretly (well not so much now) her father was the Abbot Emmanuel of the church in Machecoul. Turned out in the first season he was the Forgemaster making all the night creatures in the area. She's a revolutionary at heart that wants equality and justice -- well, for the most part.

She went through a whole bunch of stuff in Season 2 and she's changed a lot from the first season. I'd be bringing her hot off the heels of that while she's still trying to adjust and adapt.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I'm thinking either an Offering Drake or a Token Shadowbinder or Beastkin. Season 2 sees her gaining a dragon familiar by tapping into the darker side of her abilities. I like the Shadowbinder as a call back to that darker magic of hers and how her emotions hold so much sway over how her magic works. The Beastkin is obviously because of all of her familiars.

I love Ranni and she'd be super interesting in this setting! Not sure what she and Viktor could find in common other than... magic... vague parallels of trading one body for another... But I'd figure something out to throw him at her!

Somehow I haven't yet gotten to the point Jiaoqiu is introduced in HSR (I'm so behind) but I do think he's super cute ;; Also just happy to throw them together and see if something clicks!

Blurp: Toki is the rhythm guitarist for the world's most famous metal band, Dethklok! He helped save the world along with his bandmates, so that's cool. He's a pretty nice guy generally unless you piss him off too much, and he can really freak out in stressful situations. He likes cats, building models, playing video games, and not practicing the guitar. He's kind of associated with death, but don't worry about it.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Honestly I've got ideas for both types?? Obviously I was drawn to offering because hell yeah monster stuff, so that's my main plan: wraith (for the death stuff), trickster (for the bunny stuff), or daemon (counter to the whole religious upbringing thing). Buuuuuut I could also go with token, maybe, where I'd probably go necromancer (death stuff again), beastkin (loves animals), or artificer (extreme model building!!!). Still leaning offering but I'll consider it.

Anyway hiiiii I was missing being in a game. No super specific plans right now beyond just throwing stuff at the wall! I'd be taking him in post-canon, so after saving the world... well, there's this now.

Theseus is literally the guy from Greek Mythology, the late king of Athens and the drama queen of Hades. After his death he was honored as a Hero and admitted to the highest level of the Underworld, Elysium, and became one of its endbosses who gatekeeps players to this day. The game's interpretation of Theseus is the ancient Greek equivalent of a diva celebrity, basking in the attention of his undead "subjects" and holding spectacular gladiator fights where he is the (only) recognized Champion. He also somehow manages to be chuuni about it, despite all of the above literally happening. He named all his attacks, and calls them out loud when fighting, in a world where this is not normal. He is not normal.

Theseus is great at compartmentalization, bad at accepting fault, and a massive sore loser. He can be callous, cruel, and petty, but also honorable and noble. Basically, he is that one Marina and the Diamonds album. You know the one.

Vessel Type & General ideas: Offering because who can resist the irony of the legendary Monster Slayer becoming a Monster.

Seraph is tempting because it would be very funny if Theseus looked literally angelic but still had That Voice and That Personality, but Daemon will probably win out. He could have the smallest and least noticeable of physical changes (tiny Party City horns, perhaps a tail) and it'll make him cry and throw things.

I'm not sure if I know anyone or if I'll get an invite, so I might not make it in the first app round, but I would really like to try and will attempt the Test Drive Meme!

Ohhh, I agree, I think Olruggio and Viktor would be very neat CR! Especially because a lot of Olly's inventions are pretty small scale, like cobblestones that light up when you step on them or rings that function as magic blowdryers. So Jayce and Viktor's 'break the universe' machine would be both really impressive and really unsettling to him.
