Welcome to Somnia's first EMP! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- TDM: June 7th
- RESERVES: June 21st
- APPS: June 22nd - 26th
- GAME START: July 1st

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either (only to reserve and app). Mod-run invites will also be available then, so I thank you kindly for your patience!

Blurp: former show pony golden boy turned sad man who had a field trip to the apocalypse, broke his leg and got stuck in a hole for his birthday. jayce is a failry good science guy who mcgaivered his way out of the horrors (and his bisexual demons!), just a little unkempt and now permanently disabled (his leg went spelunk). I'll be taking him from ep nine, shortly after he and viktor nuked the astral plane.
Vessel Type & General ideas: I'll be going with offering for him, and the three i have lined up for the roulette are:

drake: astral plane dragon because he's a forger get it do you get me do you see the vision
satyr: for those who know me you know i cannot deny my horse girl roots. my hoofbaby origins, if you will. I have yet to try the (astral plane unicorn??) draft horse or the scruffy highland bull for jayce. he is moomoo and neigh neigh coded to my farm animal lenses 😔
lycan: walk with me when i say werebear jayce

my general plans are to explore a post canon situation with him and not only how he deals with his new disability but also the ptsd we don't get to see in canon along with the general repercussions of everything and reintegrating with people when he was ready to explode into the great beyond bc s2 rushed af and i won't even get started on the writing. that is where i am at. going to gather found family like pokemon

I watched all the Theseus fanartists turn into JayVik shippers like that montage in Toy Story 4 years ago on Twitter.

That isn't relevant to anything I just think it's funny. From what I've gathered Jayce and Theseus might actually relate to each other over being "heroes" who are actually guys who kinda suck real bad, though, which could be the start to something good/terrible/interesting?

Theseus is most famous for the myth of Daedalus, the Labyrinth, and the Minotaur, and then he spent the rest of his life doing a bunch of confounding and random shit that symbolically represents the real life unification of Attica into the citystate of Athens.

Oh in the game. Well the general same stuff as the above, but he's got a big head from it. He died and is in Hades (which is the name of the game), but since he ended up in heaven praised as a hero for all eternity it's not totally unfounded. In canon he's more comic relief because of his bossfight where he says mean things to the player uninterrupted the entire time. Somehow this won me over.

they may be incredibly different, but I have a feeling Jayce and Ranni would get on weirdly well; she's from a whole family tradition of scholars that researched magic (star magic, specifically, but she's also well versed in other types), so I could see them engaging in The Research together

So in Elden Ring, there's two factions called the Carian Scholars, and the Raya Lucarian Scholars -- Ranni is versed in both, and is Carian royalty -- and they study slightly different things, but Carian scholars consider that the stars quite literally guide people's fates. They also use magic powered by star & lunar energy, like illusions, energy projections. Ranni can conjure a miniature moon and use it like an explosive blast, etc

Basically, she grew up around scholars, surrounded herself with books and research even after she abandoned that life, so she's a big nerd lmao. If there's any research to be done on the magic and the god here, Ranni will be all over it, and I'm sure Jayce would be too 👀

if i told you i was a little eh on dragon as an option until i put "astral" in front of it. then everything changed for me, i was a goner.

I admit that Jayce was NOT my favorite in the show at first, but he wound up being one of my favorites (but I have a thing for sad, wet men).

Ok, ok, so I still have a horse girl somewhere inside of me, and I love the idea of draft horse or scruffy highland Jayce, but.................. Given his whole self image as a protector and the failure in that, werebear Jayce is so compelling. all of your thoughts are very good and very on point for him though i agree with them all

I am hoping to drag my stupid little repressed necromancer from a pathfinder limited campaign here and his entire vibe is that one magic professor that doesn't really like you but if you get an A in his class the first time he'll ensure you have a career after you graduate. Let them talk about and research magic together. (steeples fingers, anime glasses glint or something, idk, I don't watch anime)

I would love to toss Crichton at him as someone also in the middle of his own trauma parade and who's struggling with the prospect of unleashing Pandora's box scientifically, even if they're different genres. He's also a found family expert who'd definitely zero in on someone who's dealt with the Horrors.
