Welcome to Somnia's first EMP! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- TDM: June 7th
- RESERVES: June 21st
- APPS: June 22nd - 26th
- GAME START: July 1st

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either (only to reserve and app). Mod-run invites will also be available then, so I thank you kindly for your patience!

Name: Maria Renard

Blurb:
Maria is the 16 year old adoptive sister of Richter Belmont, daughter of a Russian Speaker named Tera. Secretly (well not so much now) her father was the Abbot Emmanuel of the church in Machecoul. Turned out in the first season he was the Forgemaster making all the night creatures in the area. She's a revolutionary at heart that wants equality and justice -- well, for the most part.

She went through a whole bunch of stuff in Season 2 and she's changed a lot from the first season. I'd be bringing her hot off the heels of that while she's still trying to adjust and adapt.

Vessel Type & General ideas:
I'm thinking either an Offering Drake or a Token Shadowbinder or Beastkin. Season 2 sees her gaining a dragon familiar by tapping into the darker side of her abilities. I like the Shadowbinder as a call back to that darker magic of hers and how her emotions hold so much sway over how her magic works. The Beastkin is obviously because of all of her familiars.

oh god Maria would be good in any of those roles... her arc in Nocturne S2 was so good in tbh one of the best seasons of CV

I adored it. I was a fan of game Maria and it's been so nice to see a totally different take on her in the animated series. In a way she and Alucard have swapped places. In the games Maria was the one who convinced Alucard to interact with more with humans and not hide away asleep forever and in the animated it feels like they're setting it up for him to eventually convince her to love humanity again.

I really want to dabble in exploring how season 2 has affected her going forward.

they did! it's been ages since I played sotn but I noticed that too while watching, I'm hoping that another season gets greenlit if only because of where things left off and the few crumbs we got for potential lead-ins.

also ngl I kinda laugh if only because of everything that happened in Nocturne - and then if Maria meets Vina here she'd be so confused. a monarch that actually listens to the people??????

tbf she's trying to shift things to a proper democracy back home, she's tired and just wants to nap and hang out with her girls

I still need to watch the second season, but I've def seen gifs and clips from it so I've been spoiled here and there, but both shadowbinder and beastkin would rock so hard for her.

But poor Maria, having to deal with all this new stuff after going through all of that.

I'll admit that's part of it, having her thrown into a situation like this while still reeling from everything in Season 2. The last few scenes heavily hinted at Maria's attitude having taken a darker turn thanks to everything and without confirmation of a third season I really want to explore that!

That's the great thing about RP is getting to play around with things like that. I hope you get to dig into the meat of it playing here!

But also Netflix smarten the fuck up and let them make a 3rd season!

I would like to collect other teenagers for Cato to be friends with. He's had a rough life himself and would understand finding out a terrible secret about a parent. And while rough around the edges, he's been trying to fight to save existence in his canon so he'd have similar morality.

I would like to tell you they could be great friends but I'm waiting to see how this sudden change affects her, haha. She's quite resilient but I totally expect some prickly moods and ill tempered ways before she levels out again. Then again maybe someone her own age with some similar understanding might help.
