Welcome to Somnia's first EMP! This is the place to be if you're interested in the game's setting, if you're unsure about who you'd like to bring or if you just want to check out the vibes. Remember that the EMP is open to all, and you don't need an invite to participate in the slightest!

Dates to note are as follows:

- TDM: June 7th
- RESERVES: June 21st
- APPS: June 22nd - 26th
- GAME START: July 1st

An opportunity for players who do not have invites to post their interest in receiving one will be available on the TDM as a mod comment to reply to. Just like our EMP, you do not need an invite to participate in the TDM, either (only to reserve and app). Mod-run invites will also be available then, so I thank you kindly for your patience!

Name: Onni Hotakainen
Canon: Stand Still Stay Silent
Blurp: Onni is the quintessential older brother character - protective, overbearing, loving, practical, and loyal. He tries very hard to be stoic, but he's actually quite emotional and expressive. A lifelong coward too afraid to leave his walled hometown, he found the drive to leave and go on a very dangerous mission to kill the creature that is hunting what's left of his family. While he's perpetually a little grouchy and uninclined to share all that much, he will grudgingly help others who need it.

He comes from post-apocalyptic Finland, where a body horror pandemic that turns people and animals into horrible monsters has rendered humanity near-extinct. His immediate and extended family were all killed when he was 15, and he had to raise his little sister and cousin, the only other survivors of his village. In canon he is a mage who calls on the Finnish gods and goddesses to do elemental and other attacks, erect defenses, heal, and do other kinds of magic.

Vessel Type & General ideas: I'm interested in making him a Token, a Beastkin because it suits him really well! He's already really familiar and comfortable with nature and the deep forests, rivers, and lakes, and even occasionally takes the form of an owl in his canon dream realm!

As for plans, I'd just really love to see him grow and develop, form some bonds beyond his family, maybe some found family or something. I'd love to see him come out of his shell a little and form some community!

onni sounds so lovely, i can't imagine the worry (or relief?) of his little sister and cousin being elsewhere with all that going on! found family and community building is so good, i can't wait to see how he fares! i wonder if he can wrangle the flora and fauna of the realm into that family/community...

Ahhh, I'm glad you think so! I'd be taking him from end of canon so he'll at least know his family is safe, which is a relief!

onni sounds like a really cool character! sunny is a the little brother type, so their cr could potentially be interesting

both with their own tragic backstories too
seems onni will be familiar with people becoming monsters!

I'm glad someone thinks he's cool!

I definitely love playing Onni off little brothers/sisters. He tends to grumpily adopt them haha. And yes, he definitely will, it'll bother him a little bit at first!

Sunny is sixteen, so he’s not a little kid, but when it came to his friend group he was like the “everyone’s little brother” type, and then also Very Significantly had an older sister

So he’s interesting with those types
There are negative and positive things!

Oooh, he's younger than his little cousin Lalli (who's 20 at the end of canon)! But he wouldn't treat him like a kid, not really. But he'd def get protective and cook for him if need be and stuff!

I'm def hoping to post to the TDM when it goes up!

Hiiiii! I'm def interested in tagging Jinx with him too. Considering how weird his little cousin is, who he basically raised, I think he might be able to deal with her surprisingly well? He's used to people who are distressed by things not everyone can see (in his canon, only a small percentage of people can hear the body-horror-monsters) and have some emotional trauma. If anything, he might take her hallucinations a little TOO seriously lmao.
